I would like to get a list going among members of those who are at least interested in a Western NSX Fest (similar to the EST FEST of the eastern chapter). I have spoken to an eastern member who is very interested in seeing this happen and he said the NSX Club of Canada would be behind the efforts to make this event a GO! Since we don't have a date in mind I am willing to take a stab at May, anyone have a preference for day and location? I personally like a trip thru the Rockies but we will say majority rules. Please make sure any replies address your intention to attend, date preferred and location for the event. If you have any comments to add please feel free. My phone # is 250-374-6655 if you want to discuss things related to the event.
Regards,
Aaron in Kamloops

I would crawl 10 miles over broken glass to attend.
- 10 miles = 16 km - this means , preferably lower mainland. maybe harrison?

Sounds like a great idea!

I positive that we will help you guys in whatever way we can. All you really need is someone out west to take the innitiative!

great to see some interest. keep the replies coming i'd like to see 20-30 cars be able to make the trip...I am committed to doing what I can to see this happen and I know the club as a whole is going to work with me so I don't see it being a problem. I'll gladly accept assistance from members who want to make this event happen. We should also discuss what things we should do at the event : tech classes, maybe a sound off, specific NSX car care instruction from experts in the field, etc.
Keep the ideas coming guys!!

well we are going somewhere in western canada (BC or Alberta) and you are most welcome to come up and show us your sweet ride...would love to see some American NSX fans too!

I'd recommend May or Spring vice the fall as you guys have NSXPO 08 in Portland to go to in the fall. The Okanagan sounds amazing, it's the one part of Canada I haven't been to that I want to see.

Good luck with your planning. I would take the approach that if you build it they will come. One other thing, if you pick a tourist type area, check with the hotels in that area first, many of them may be booking up for weddings etc. already so you may want to block off a group of rooms soon, knowing that no matter what date you go with you won't get everyone.

If it ends up in Kelowna or somewhere close, you Vancouver guys have to get there via Whistler then the Derry Lake road. WHAT A DRIVE!!!!!

The only way I would choose Okanagan is if it was close enough for the AB guys to get to also. I would try to find a place in the middle that works for everyone.

thanks biobanker, the Whistler idea is one i am starting to warm up to. I believe the road to Kelowna from Whistler is the Duffy Lake Rd. but i'm sure people would figure it out. Maybe we can start in Kelowna and drive to Whistler or vice-versa.

I am in...but it needs to be in and around Banff - have to stay close due to my book coming out this spring/summer. If I can't attend...have a blast and take lots of pics!!

Dam

Last year I tried to get interest in a Kelowna meet around the Knox Mtn Hill Climb/Summerland Blossom Run/Peachland Car Show weekend. I had the Knox Mtn organiser ready to set aside space for us on the lawn, and a whole lot of planning and suggestions for Hotels, Restaurants, evening events etc. No one was interested (expect possible NSX604 who did say he was coming, although I never saw him there).

I went anyway and it was a great weekend.

Good luck.

Yes , I think the best chance is to make the event local to vancouver and as central as possible - easier for most people, a lot of people are probably thinking of issues like rock chips etc. also security at night becomes an issue if you are @ hotel .

Book? What book - tell us more?

(I didn't even know you could type! )

OK, we've seen some interest. I've looked into this and I have come up with a tentative schedule of events. We meet in Vancouver on May 16th at a set time and location (yet to be determined). From there its a drive up to the coquihalla summit to the Hwy 97C exit and a 2 hour drive from that point to Kelowna on a nice scenic drive. The 17th we could attend the Knox Mtn. Hill climb and do our show and shine in Kelowna that day. The 18th would bring about the World of Wheels Peachland Car show and then a half-hour drive to Summerland for the Blossum Run, a local car event that showcases specialty conversions, rare cars and the like. If anyone wants to add something please feel free to post a reply. This date seems to be the choice for most interested in coming, and with all the car events in the okanagan valley it seems like a no-brainer. We could consider our attendance an "adrenaline shot" to the events as we would likely get tons of attention from fellow car enthusiasts. I also know the owner of the go-karts in Kelowna and im sure we could get excellent rates on a little track action between us all, they do have an excellent track and some nice hi-speed Italkarts for us performance-crazed minded!

Kelowna would be more than an eight hour drive for the Alberta guys, maybe the Alberta guys should consider having a Mid-West Fest, haha.

Besides that I'd be down as long as it's not the last week of May, Ariel Atom experience FTW!

Do you guys have a list of Alberta and BC attendees?

Do one in somewhere this year and then go to the other province next year. You've also got Portland 08 NSXPO to look forward to.

Here's the last Alberta list we made:

Sinisfun - Cody Dyck - Calgary Area
95EagleAWD - Ryan Argue - Edmonton
ffffanman - Trevor Yacyshyn - Edmonton
Caveman - Dan ? - Edmonton
cwillgo - Will ? - Calgary
damthatbeaver - Greg ? - Calgary
rjmcmillan - ? - Calgary
Bigglezworth - Tim - Calgary
Maximumyield - Brent ? - Calgary
macready - ? - Edmonton
warrenw - ? - Edmonton
rorn - ? - Edmonton
jdizzle - ? - Calgary
Soloracer951 - Erik Dumas - Calgary
Alinjack - Warren - Edmonton
Prometheus - Albert - Edmonton
CokerRat - Darren - Calgary
NCC-1701D - Eddie - Edmonton
LUV2REV - Brady Dolan - ?

I think the only way you'd get a decent showing from Alberta would be if it was closer to the border. But then you'd lose some West coast guys, so it's all about compromises. Let's just split the difference and have it at my place in Didsbury  .

I emailed 25 members of prime in BC alone yesterday (not including the ones who have posted on this thread who obviously know whats going on). With all the car related events in the Okanagan as well as the usually excellent weather conditions make the May 16-18th weekend as the date we will use. I am hoping to get 12-15 B.C. members and close to the same from Alberta and maybe a few from Washington State would be nice to see. No matter what it was going to be a drive for some attendees. Next year i'd like to see the West Fest held in Alberta. We can pass the torch on to one of the members there and they can work out the specifics and the NSX Club of Canada assisting where they can. What i'd like to get now is a list of those planning to attend that weekend. Those coming from Alberta may want to meet up at a chosen location and drive straight to Kelowna (thereby obviously saving a lot of time). Us BCer's can meet and drive from Vancouver.
Thanks all,
Aaron
