That's what I love about this forum..honest appreciation for other automobiles. I bet if someone posted that Ferrari on the Supra Forums we would hear how it is "overpriced, not easily upgradeable, and would be killed by my Whammer-Jammer with only $3k in mods".

I love my NSX so much, even though I can afford a Modena, (other than the waiting list) I haven't pulled the trigger. Why?

Been in one at the track, and in the hands of a better driver than me, my NSX passed a 360 w/o breaking a sweat. Talking to both drivers afterwards, there was no "lifting".

To the chap that said he'd like to have a Ferrari and an NSX-R in his garage, but use the S2000 as the DD.....wake up dude, and enjoy life!!

As a data point, John has a gorgeous yellow 360 that he regularly flogs at the track. 22k miles, of which, 15k miles (yes, you read correctly) are on the track. Now *that's* a man that has his priorities straight!! But the NSX still kicks the Prancing Horse's hide.

...so, for the sake of argument, let's say John's 360 is 3 years old (I don't know John or his car - and this is in no way intended to be disrespectful to him). That means he would have to average 10 Indy 500 miles worth of track use each year for 3 years. Seems like a stretch to me - but if it is true...more power to him.

5000 track miles a year is plausible but unlikely.

At 50 mph ave speed and 4 hours of tracktime a day, or 200 miles/day, this implies 25 track days a year, which is plausible with a year-long season, particularly with the long days in the summer.

Am curious as to the high-milers and what they log, approximately. Andrie ??
 
On average John spends three weekends per month at a track. In the three years I have been visiting the local tracks, I have not seen him there only *one* time.

John lives in Dallas and there are four tracks within a half-day of him. He does not trailer his 360 to the track. At the track, he shares his 360 with another instructor, so the car gets double the miles.

Last year the two of them drove the car to and from the New York (?) area to participate in a Ferrari Challenge.

Some people buy Ferraris (and other exoticars) to park in their garage and admire at cocktail parties. John bought his specifically for track use.

Suffice it to say, John's miles are legit.
 
John shares it with another instructor at most track days as well bringing that to 3 drivers on any given track day. Of course Rick isn't there all the time, just saying from when I've been there too.

Yeah, I think that yeller beast has the most track miles of any 360 other than a challenge car.

You might want to check that again. Starting in 2001, the Ferrari Challenge became exclusive to 360's (eliminating the 355's) but only 360 Challenge cars are allowed to participate. 360 Challenge cars are sold from the dealer without the ability to be street-titled. Incidentally, I have seen street-legal 348 Challenge cars.

This makes me suspect that the alleged 7K street miles during the period in question are decidedly low. Let's say he goes on 36 track weekends a year, and the average distance each way to the track is 100 miles (some tracks closer, others further away). That accounts for over 7K miles in one year alone.
