For Halloween I want to dress up like Michael Jordan. But, I'm white (american/central american i look more lebanese sometimes)! Soooo, I want to color my whole body, face, hands, legs etc etc Crayola black. I have the Jordan basketball shorts, Jersey and the red and black Jordan sneakers. Now, I told my friends i wanted to do this and they though it was funny as hell and that would be a grand prize winner. Now, I'm thinking, what will the hard core black ghetto (if you live in CA, you will know the kind i'm talking about when i say compton, lynwood, long beach type) people who get pissed off for saying nigga, brotha and start fights because your not black. I want to have a good time and not get into any confrontations w/black people because they think i'm being disrespectful. What do you think i should do! I never though of this until my sister brought it up.

You can still dress up like Jordan w/o the body paint and people will still get it. Seriously, it's not worth potentially taking a beating over. You never know who might see you.

If you are expressing concern over it, it seems you recognize the problems associated with your costume. Now are you able to make the decision that black body color is probably not a wise thing to do unless you live some where where Blacks are not part of the population. Even then, someone else will be offended. Just not a wise thing to do. JMHO

Don't wear the paint. It could very easily be seen as bad taste by people who don't know your intentions.

it seemed ok when Dave Chappelle dressed up as a white news anchor. I wonder what would happen if he broke down in Beverly Hills and had to walk down the street dressed up. I wonder if you would fare the same if you broke down in Compton.

God gave you intuition. Your parents taught you values.

You display both in your post. I suggest you listen to the voice inside your head telling you not to do it.

There are a lot of great costumes that you can put together that are not nearly as offensive and 10x funnier.

That said this is a free country and I defend your rights to be able to do it - even if it would be a mistake you will probably regret on many levels.

He would have gotten jumped by the undersexed, over cosmetic surgery women of Beverly Hills - a white guy with a 12" third leg.

I do feel that it would be disrespectful, but i meant nothing but good humor and good intentions. i guess i'll scratch that off the list.

Anybody have any ideas for a costume. Maybe cost free.

I don't get it,do you have to walk through compton to get to your party? Again body paint to be black is your choice and the reaction to such might depend on the crowd at your party. You could always go as Michael's lesser known white half brother:wink: say jacky Jordan:smile:

Michael Jackson

I've seen that and the funny was a boy "wall facing doll" was attached to his Ah............front :tongue:

If you're serious, you'd be better off with creme theatrical makeup than with bodypaint. Paint will crack in the areas where you bend. Either way, you're going to spend the evening being damned careful what you touch and where you sit, because it'll rub off.

Eat a lot and pack on a ton of weight. Then put on a small coat and go as a fat guy in a little coat.
