I am tired of phishing emails

Lately I have been getting phishing emails almost daily. Most of them are pretty obvious and I just delete them, but it is quite annoying. Does anyone know how they get my email address and link it to online service I use such as citibank, paypal etc? Is there any way to stop this?

Almost daily? I get at least a few each day. I think the only thing you can do is forward the email to spoof@paypal (or whatever address).
