I am ready for a NSX

If you are looking to sell or know someone who is interested in selling a 91-94 RED or BLACKNSX with black interior, let me know please.

my_nsx_ad_3.jpg

Here is the link to my WTB thread.

Open to 2002+ conversions (does not need to be red, but must be an OEM colour)

I'm good with mods as long as they are OEM or better in quality but still follow the original idea intended by Honda.

Form must follow function!

Deal breakers for me are:
1. Forced induction
2. Body modifications (i.e. wide body, fenders, body kits)
3. Repaint really depends on how much of the car was repainted (bumpers or the entire car?) and if it was painted a different colour (red to black, or black to red).
4. Modded interiors, with the exception of an aftermarket steering wheel, shift knob, and stereo (no amps, fake carbon fibre pieces, speakers, stiches, and coloured interior etc.).
5. Car owned previously by a smoker
6. Accidents, again depending on the magnitude of the accident

***cash in hand***

Thank you!
:)

EDIT: Since I don't want to make this thread appear too much like an ad, why don't you guys (in Canada) share your adventure / story on how you bought your NSX?

Awesome Andr3w, very excited for you! I remember when I first got my stuff in order and started seriously looking, the anticipation was intense. I applaud your use of a numerical classification of potential cars- it is very innovative.

I think if you give a bit more info it might help others help you, so you can find "the one" more efficiently: What are your deal breakers? Do you have a rough budget in mind? Are you looking to import from the US? Is an SC or turbo'd car acceptable? What about mileage considerations?

For example, based on your note above, a 1991 automatic that has been repainted from red to black and is a salvage title with 350,000 km fits the bill. Is this the case?

Luckily you are looking for two of the most common colours in three of the highest production years, in a manual or auto transmission. Add to that the impending spring-time car selling season and you should be spoiled for choice. The primers are a great resource, especially in the CDN forum, so feel free to use us for questions, etc.

Good luck, keep us posted!

Thanks Mr. Fuji. I didn't include too many parameters into the diagram since I noticed there would be too much to include (i.e. reason for branded title: flood, fire, collision... types of mods.. etc.).

Dealer breakers for me are: forced induction (or previously installed), ivory interior, and body modifications (i.e. wide body, fenders, body kits). Repaint really depends on how much of the car was repainted (bumpers or the entire car?)

My budget is $30k (+/- $5k depending on the condition).

I'm actually considering on flying over and driving it back; as I might be visiting my sister and brother-in-law in Redmond, WA, I have extended my search to the west coast.

The colour of choice is a tough one, but IMO a NSX looks great in any (OEM) colour.

Andrew, you need to be more specific with your WTB thread or else you will get all type of responses. Keep in mind that when you import an NSX there is a 6.1% import tax plus HST that needs to be added to your overall cost.

Good luck

Bram

Good point Bram, duties and taxes on an import will definitely impact budget.

Andr3w- This is a 2 owner car in the Pacific NW. The price is in your range, and I assume there is room for negotiation:

I'm not sure I like ALL of the mods, but they are relatively simple to reverse or revise by the new owner. Did I mention that it is a 2-owner car? Quite rare for an early-year car.

andrew not sure how long you have been looking for but my advice is to be patient. ideally look for a car in canada that you can see in person; the current US dollar + duties + shipping + other fees will easily add 25-30% to the sticker price of a car coming from the usa.

best of luck andrew + enjoy hte search!

DOH! I forgot to include that I'm not a fan of interior mods (i.e. carpet changes, upholstery changes, and dash changes/stitches). I'll update my thread, thanks!

Thanks guys, i'll keep updating and adding info. I know that there are extra costs (duty, taxes, and currency) but the initial asking price of most Canadian NSXs are higher compared to the ones in the US in similar condition and mileage.

These are some of the ones that I've come across so far:

http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/ctd/4428115608.html pretty original and seems well documented
was originally here on prime and the asking price was $21k: http://www.nsxprime.com/forum/showthread.php/171997-1991-blk-blk-102k-24-5k-jh4na1152mt001897

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Acura-NSX-2-door-coupe-carbon-fiber-wide-body-/251504979680 Although I said no FI and body mods, this one would definitely be an exception and I would be serious if it were $10k lower (budget constraint).

Hi Andrew,

There is a red, bone stock 91 NSX still for sale in Vancouver. http://www.bluestarmotors.com/index.php?page=showroom&vehicle_id=2683

I went & had a look at it a number months ago & took it for a test drive - it's still available, & has been on the lot since last fall, when they brought it over from a Mercedes dealership on Vancouver Island.
The good: it meets all your criteria, it is a Canadian NSX, with DRL, speedo in km's, & because they have had it for quite a while, you may be able to negotiate a much better price
The bad: the price (high), it needs a new timing belt (confirmed by Acura after I took it for a the test drive) - however the dealer said he would cover the cost of having this done. The owner of the dealership is a real #$@!#^$. The first time I went there, the attitude was like "you can take it for a drive if you are willing to buy it today". I left, & then returned a second time about a week later at which time I stood my ground & told him if he wasn't even willing to take the car off the lot for a quick test, any potential deal was never going to happen. Needless to say, we went for a drive.

So, even though this one wasn't right for me, it may be right for you. Just make sure you get it thoroughly run through Acura & the dealer to sign off on covering any other repairs.

I actually did end up buying my NSX from the US. I was able to find a mint 97 NSX-T that had won a number of shows, was low miles, and already had all the options that I loved (Wings West body kit, gorgeous mags, etc), and full service records. Yes, you do have to consider the exchange rate. I'm not sure how HST works from province to province for used vehicles from a private seller vs a dealer vs. buying from the states.
One huge advantage I found is the size of market in the states for NSX's vs. Canada. There are many, many times more available across the line. Plus, if the NSX you import is greater than 15 yrs old, there is no RIV requirements. The import process was almost, dare I say - "painless". Once the car was here, all I had to do was a simple DRL modification (from this diy section of this site), and pass the provincial inspection.

Cheers,

Neil

^ Thanks for the help, Neil.

I actually want to purchase from a private seller rather than from a dealer. I'll probably look into the first one you posted later on if nothing comes up.

The second one is usdm, and far too mint for me (and way out of my budget). I don't think I would even want to drive it and put mileage on it haha.

If you are still considering importing from the US, make sure you check out the Registrar of Imported Vehicles (RIV) web page https://www.riv.ca/ if you have not done so already. The RIV also used to run public seminars to take people through the process of importing cars into Canada. Check on their website to see if they still offer this.

In addition to GST and duties, there is also an additional charge from the RIV (can't remember how much; but, it is significant) if the car is less than 15 years old (or something like that). Also, remember that when they calculate the duties and GST, it is after conversion of the sale price to Cdn $. With the current 10% exchange rate, all that stuff can add up! Finally, depending on the province, any imported car (even from another province) may require a mandatory safety inspection. Just more $$$$.

Thanks for the detailed reply Old Guy. :)

I'm going to wait and see if anything comes up in Canada first.

I dropped my 91 Sebring Silver CDN automatic with 50k km to 35k last night just for you. It needs a new belt though so maybe it's priced too high still. Look for it at FoO.

Hey Andrew,

I was just doing a separate search & a site came up that I hadn't found before: http://www.nsxtrader.com/ I'm not sure if you've already seen it? <or how="" current="" the="" listings="" are.="">
Good news - tons of NSX's that might be of interest to you!
Bad news - they are US cars (again)

Here's a few examples:
http://www.nsxtrader.com/details.php?id=2066 91; nice mags; includes vin#; 38k miles; $31k
http://www.nsxtrader.com/details.php?id=3633 91; mags; 115k miles; $25k
http://www.nsxtrader.com/details.php?id=3171 91; bone stock; 2 sets of rims; seems to be well maintained (owner knowledgeable about snap ring problem); 59k miles; $35k
http://www.nsxtrader.com/details.php?id=20640 92; mags; lowered; little bit of chrome on the engine; has repainted the top to red (instead of black); 87k miles; $30k

Have a look - something might interest you. And, if I can import a car - anyone can

Cheers

btw: black interiors are nothing to be afraid of </or>

Neil, thanks for letting me know about that site. I now have an extra source to check in addition to autotrader, kijiji, craigslist, and nsxprime.

Oh I meant black exterior not the interior haha.

EDIT: updated thread, no smoker cars

That one is now listed on trader at 32,000$.

^ That ad looks sketchy. The pictures are the same as the ones from the Blue Motor Sport ad, and the price is reduced to $32k and is now in East York (Toronto).

The one in Halifax looks pretty good, however I haven't had the time to contact the dealership to inquire more about it. Although the price is out of my budget, I'm willing to try and see if the dealer will bulge on the price.

I will keep you guys updated!

Why do some NSX have odometer numbers that are offset and some have perfectly aligned numbers where you can't see the numbers below those showing until they turn over? That odometer and the 4x4 wheel clearance are the only things that look off on that Halifax car. Or is that normal 91 suspension?
