Helloe everyone!

Thhinking about swapping out my perfect HRE 540 polished 18/19 wheels for a set of Lexion (Volks) 503 chrome 18/19 wheels.

I would love input from everyone.

Which is the better wheel?

Which is the more popular wheel?

Which do you like more?

Which would look better on a red NSX?

Which would be better for resale of the car?

Attached are photos of both!

Thanks!

I'm not a fan of the Lexion wheels. Aren't those suckas really heavy?

For an NSX, I prefer a lightweight racing wheel. But that's just my $0.02.

I like the first ones, the second look to "chunky" for a five spoke and the NSX.

If you are considering 5-spokes I think these would look awesome on an NSX. They will be pricey, probably in line with the HRE's, and sure you would have to get custom offsets.

I love them but just don't feel like I can justify the cost right now:frown:

Whattya mean a "VIP" car?

Why no chrome???

I am not concerned at all about weight since I would never track the car.

Those Rays would be more suitable on a VIP style car IMHO.

It's your car. Put on what you like.

To answer your questions:

Which is the better wheel? The HRE.
Which is the more popular wheel? The HRE.
Which do you like more? The HRE.
Which would look better on a red NSX? The HRE.
Which would be better for resale of the car? The HRE.

There is a trend with my answers. Keep the HRE. It's a great look on the NSX.

Also, why no chrome? Two reasons: 1. Chrome is usually found on family sedans or dedicated show cars and isn't in keeping with the NSX theme of being a performance car, so it's not as popular and 2. A chromed wheel is more likely to exhibit corrosion at the tire bead, thereby causing flats or blowouts and you don't want when driving at speed.

I like the HRE. It's a good looking wheel in comparison to the Volk you show in the pic.

I agree, although I am a little biased! If you are "bored" of your current HRE look, why not have HRE refinish the centers to a brushed finished and keep the lip polished.

How would brushed/clearcoat centers and chrome edges look?

I just don't want to polish anything anymore!

I think this is a great route to go over the new wheels.

Try this stuff called ZoopSeal. I have never used it, but am interested to hear how well it works. It's supposed to prevent the wheels from hazing up.:

zoopseal_productline.jpg

According to the website:
"Protect all your polished aluminum, stainless steel and chrome parts from oxidation and eliminate the need for repeat polishing. Each deluxe kit covers 75 square feet. Easy to apply when following the instructions provided. Formulated for use on cars, trucks, boats motorcycles, engines, wheels and interior accessories. When applied properly ZoopSeal™ will:

*Prevent dulling and oxidation
*Retain the polished brightness and luster of aluminum
*Eliminate the need for repeat polishing
*Be long lasting*
*Will work on aluminum, brass, and stainless steel
*Be safe to use and environmentally friendly
*Eliminate undesirable powder coating or chrome to chip, peel, and yellow"

But to answer your questions.

Which is the better wheel?
It's argueable. The Volks have much more finishing to them than the HREs. HREs are generally bare aluminum, whereas the Volks are finished with an anodized coating to prevent oxidation and hazing.

Which is the more popular wheel?
The HRE is probably more popular in the NSX crowd

Which do you like more?
I like the HRE

Which would look better on a red NSX?
I think the HRE

Which would be better for resale of the car?
I don't think either will help the resale of the car. . In fact the OEM wheels may be more desireable to some buyers. The HRE's however will be a much easier sale in the classified section as a separate sale, however, and should sell pretty quickly at the right price.

Continuing to get great responses!~

I agree with Hapa that neither is going to anything for resale value. Personally I think chrome wheels should only be on muscle cars. I would go for getting the HRE's refinished. I love Volk wheels, but not feeling those...

those arent volks, theyre made by rays but theyre not volks. lexion is a brand by rays just like volk is a brand by rays

lexion wheels are ok, comparible to the weight/quality of hre's, hre has a big following and vast wheel selection though

The lexions will go good on a navigator or escalade.....keep the hre's if your gonna choose between only those two.

I like HRE! I have HRE chrome wheels on my Formula Red NSX.
