Whats the best method to test whether a shock is going bad? Are there machines that can detect this?

I'm suspecting my TEIN RAs might be going bad once again... I'm really anal about my suspension... it really makes the most important difference on the car.

I was told the one way to know if a shock (damper) has failed is to touch it after driving. Working shocks create heat when working. A failed damper will be cold.

Thanks for the tip! I'll use a Pyrometer to measure the heat differences.
