How do I remove the emission routing label from the firewall? It's the large one near the fuel pump resistor.
All the other labels just peeled off. This one appears to be fused to the paint.

Don't know about this one in particular but I have had excellent results using a non stick spray (like Pam) for removing stubborn bumper stickers and labels.

You spray on one side and begin to peel and or scrape the sticker off.

Good luck - sorry I don't have any specific experiance removing this one label.

BTW - if you are removing to paint - wont you be stripping the paint and replacing the stickers so in effect you don't care? Just a guess here...

I would try a Hair Dryer heat one corner gently pull and keep the Dryer on it until you get it all off.

I think this same problem came up 2 years ago when someone was trying to remove the unsightly label off the firewall. You may want to do a search for it (if it goes back that far).

AFAIK, chemical products dont work well on the label because it cannot soak through the plastic and dissolve the adhesive. Another member suggested taking it to an autobody shop and having them remove it -- they supposedly have a gadget that harmlessly removes stripes/detailing, etc which is similar to the sticker in question.

Matteni's idea worked well. I sprayed a little Pam around the label and used a razor blade. The Pam acts as a lubricant which allows the blade to slide easily between the label and the paint. Still a slow process.

I did this on my car. It's long hard work. I would stay away from a razor blade because it can easily scratch the paint. I assume you want an excellent finish in there. I used a wooden implement to start with, but switched to my own fingernails after a short while. Freshly cut nails are very sharp! Spray with WD40 or similar product to try and lift the item then scratch away. The final result is well worth it!!

Glad I could help. I have used this to remove the obnoxious dealer stickers they put all over your new car.

I also stuffed the lid of the Pam cap into the air intake baffle to create a ram effect - but that is another story (don't try this at home)!
