I have a little annoying rattle in my dome light and I want to take it apart to see what is loose. When driving, if I push my hand on the right side of the dome light, the rattle goes away. The service manual says to just pry it off, but when I start prying, it feels like I am about to break the whole thing so I gave up. How do you do it without breaking it? Do you pry just the clear platic lens or the whole thing? Thanks.

There are 4 little notches in the clear plastic plate, one on each corner. Use a cloth covered flathead screwdriver to pry one side down. From there, you can remove the screws that hold the whole assembly in there and just pull it out.

hey, let me know if you resolve it. I have rattle noise coming from the dome light. thanks. ;)

thanks, I will try that.

Sorry for bringing back an old thread, but now its my turn to replace the dome lights. I tried looking at it and prying it, but I can't seem to find notches (like the ones for our doors and footwell) on the clear lens. Are we suppose to just pry the clear lens or the surrounding part (grey) too?

Pry just the clear lens. you are right the noches are on the sides of the clear lens, more like little retaining tabs, and can't be seen with the lens installed. The cloth covered screwdriver is the right way to remove it. just wedge it inbetween the gray plastic housing and the lens and pry a little to pop one side out (2 on the tabs) and it will come right out. Reinstalling is just pushing it back in place. It does seem to feel like something will break but prying with the flat of the blade distributes the load and works nicely.

easier said than done. I tried and tried, but could never get it out without snapping it off.

Look for the two little slots that the screwdriver fits into. They are at the front. The front comes out first. I just did mine for fun at lunch time. It took two mins. Easy! I have a 94, not sure if it's the same for all years?

For those without the T, are we sure its the dome light and not the center clip holding the roof liner up?
Just order new clips for my liner and should install soon.
Nice thread somewheres on this.
Place your palm up on the centre of the roof liner just behind the dome light.
Push up gentle. If your clip is worn slightly, the roof liner should rise and make a snap sound as it clips in. If you clip is worn right out, the roof liner will go up and down without the snap.
Just thinking out loud.

Thanks for the tip. Worked like a charm. I was lost until I thought why not check on NSX Prime. Duh. Saved me a lot of frustration and probably damage. I was trying to remove the whole unit by pulling on it. Yikes. It was screwed in. Didn't know that until I got the lens off. New LED's look great in there .Thanks again.

Removal.
Tabs shown circled in Red. There are two at the front of the lamp that allow the lens to be removed easily without breaking or damaging.
