I just found this thread. I did my installation almost exactly the same way. Works great. I currently have 985 songs in my CD changer and there could be more if I wanted.

robr - I burned my CDs on my new iMac. It allows me to burn songs in any order I choose. Painfully simple to use as well.

ive got the order thing taken care of using media jukebox, but still working on a solution to set silence parameters between songs. cant find an app that lets you do it on a per track basis yet......

Sounds good. We have at least five more people in the queue, so I will notify them and get the ball rolling.

i take it back, media jukebox didnt work

. i think its something windows xp is doing since several of these programs all seem to have options to not screw up the order, but when the cd is burned, the order is hosed. its not just the file listing thats screwed up either...... arggh! anyway, enough bandwidth on this topic here, i just wanted to make sure people having a similar problem didnt jump on media jukebox as a solution.

me again........ guess what, contrary to what was reported here earlier, this thing actually CAN play back mp3 files in folders. you dont have to throw them all into the root directory. see this link for more info:

Where exactly do I find that info from this link?

Just so everything goes smoothly please contact Russ [email protected] for the group buy. If you have any specific questions feel free to contact me. [email protected]

That reminds me, I need to fix this DIY. Anyone have a stock photo of the OEM bracket they can email me. I am looking for a photo that shows the stock mounting holes.

Nsxxtreme, thank you for all the information. We installed the S634 today.
However, I did not need the peripheral adapter. It works fantastic, without any changing. Maybe the factory connector is different for US and Europe. Also thanks for your update on how to burn MP3 on a CD.
Duke.

Duke,
stop immediately!!! I had an Alpine that seemd to work "perfectely" without the adapter and after sometime it burned! Smell of electrical burn everywhere in the trunk (but no fire or burn sign fortunately!).

Then with a new unit and the adapter, 6 months later and no problem... for how much time did you play CDs without the adapter?
Mine burned in 1-2h...

BTW, I am in Europe too and we have EXACTELY the same setup as oversea... only possibility for you to be safe is that the newer 634 are differnet from the 2001 Alpine 630 in the electrical system.

Wow.. you scared me. I'll let it check right away.I played mp3-cd about 4 hours in total.
But I will buy the right adapter anyway, just to be sure. Thanks.

Sorry if I scared you!

But I was using the CD on and off for a time and at on the road at a stop I smelled the electrically burned changer in the trunk: that scared me and I'd like to avoid you the same hassle!

I am glad everyone found this information informative. Do any of you have a photo of the stock bracket? I would like to do a before and after photo.

It surprises me that your cd chnager even sounds correctly without the ACUALP adapter. I would use it, unless someone has swiched the wires around before. I think this is explained in the NSX FAQ. I just tried to make this as simple as possible.

Great information. I bought the same cd changer along with two adaptors. Didn't want to drill holes so I used velcro. Took me less than ten mins to install.

I noticed some noise from speakers. Again, searched this webpage and found out there is a local shop in Dallas(Willamn)that fix bose speakers. I am not a very handy man, always broke something when DIY. So I just drove to Willman this afternoon.

Daryl replaced all three amps and speakers for me. The system is almost as good as new.

Daryl is very good guy. I watached him removing door panels and replaced those parts the whole time. The guy knows what he is doing.

This is truely a great site. Everytime I needed an answer or help. I can alawys find something here.

I don't think I can wait much longer for my AC problem to be fixed. It's getting too hot to drive without AC in Dallas. My dealer told me that I need a computer assembly that attached to the back of the Climate control unit. The dealer even required me to pay for the part before they order it. To make things worse, the available date for the part is unknown:-(. Acura really needs to do something about their spare parts.

Brough mine mp3 changer for 240, no tax, and that damn "special" coverter cable from alpine, cost me 25!!!! anyways, it's a very good system. The only bad thing is hard to keep track of all the songs...

Sorry to reserect this but does anyone have the pictures that came with this post? I emailed the original poster but no response and couldn't find an archive in the FAQs.

Thanks!

You can find the install instructions Here.

It was several weeks ago (3/9 @ 10:09 CST) and sent it to [email protected]. In any event - thank you for putting this together.

I did my CHA 634 last weekend and here is some additional / new info I didn't know.

1) I too did not use or need the ACUALP adapter cable (it wouldn't even power on with it). I have a 91' NSX with the original changer - if that helps anyone. I can't believe all of us are getting bad cables and the sound is NOT out of phase. Go figure.

2) I did not need to "stuff" all the extra cables under the carpet. If you do not remove the tie wrap - all the cables will fit very nicely right under the unit and can not be seen at all. Clean!

3) I did not re-install the bolt that restricts the bracket to 30 deg or so. I like being able to swing the unit further open to remove and insert the disks.

4) On mine - the "cd fast forward" feature does not work on MP3 songs. Oh well.

5) A-Select for automatically selecting tracks works awesome!

6) Weight - I held the old and new unit and the new unit is smaller and a LOT lighter. I also ditched the old cell phone brackets to save some more weight.

7) I did not drill the extra 2 holes to support the unit. To me - the unit is light and can be well mounted with one screw on each side. YMMV.

That's it - very cool mod for $207

Fast forward should work. It seems to depend on which MP3 encoding software you use and what bit rate is used. I encode my own songs and have never had a problem. I have had a problem with FF with songs downloaded from the internet. I use Audiocatalyst and encode at no lower than 192 kb/s

The only brand I recommend for the ACUALP adapter is from Peripheral. I have never had luck with the generic adapters. All of this info is listed in the DIY.

Has anyone installed this on a newer NSX 97 and up? It should be the same but I don't know for sure.
