How much have you invested, err I mean spent, on mods for your NSX?

My list:

Paint 91 top matching red: $700
'97 OEM wheels: $1500
Cantrell Intake: $300
Custom Magnaflow exhaust: $500
6 speed/RPS clutch: $8000

So about $11k for me.

I'm sure I'll recoup all that 'investment' when I sell it, right?

You got off light!!

Here are some strange observations:

1) This disease is at it's worst when I am away from my NSX. When I am driving it I actually am never thinking I need anything else. That is the strange part. While driving, I am in bliss... happy and content.

2) When I get on this forum, you people make me do horrible things I don't want to do.

3) That "Group buys/vendors" and "parts for sale" sections are where satan lives. Everytime I tell myself not to click, I do. If I have no time to check anything on prime, the "for sale" section MUST BE CHECKED even if it is 3:00 am, and I was just going to the bathroom.

4) Everytime I think I am done someone comes out with some new gizmo that I didn't know I needed. SOS, Downforce, and Procar are satan's little helpers. I know this for fact.

5) What is a "group buy"? It is the excuse you needed to justify the horrible act you are about to commit. It is not about spending money, but about "saving money". You must do it now, so you can SAVE MONEY!!!

Someone help me... please... I am considering ceramic brakes... It is a cry for help...

Well like others this is my second NSX so I just clicked the highest number and stopped thinking about it before I get emotional. But like turbo2go said this forum has cost me more money then I could have ever imagined and it is getting even worse with all of these late x-mas/happy new year car present threads.

Holy parts bin Batman, some major bucks being spent! I can see this is all leading in a bad direction. I already have dali/bilsteins on the way, thinking about some new 17/18's, then there's that turbo kit that Autowave is working on...Quick! Someone change my PIN number and don't tell me what it is, no matter what I say...

I think listing the price is good thing because it will give any one who wants to do similar mods a good idea where it will take them.

After all, sharing our personal experience is why we're here:smile:

you are a sick sick man.....seek help.........

That's what you get for wanting a NSX-R on this side of the world...

Unfortunately, I will never be able to have a NA2 Coupe, but I like the T, nor I want one. I enjoy having the T top and I still believe mid 2002 and up NSX has more HP than advertised.

The car at the moment, is about 100 lb. heavier than an fully equipped NSX-R (about 2900 -2940-ish lb.). The NSX-R OEM parts and the titanium exhaust really make a huge different in weight. Also, the extra HP from bolt on stuff help compensating the extra weight.

Imagine the list for Danny's 1000hp NSX!!!

About USD40K. These include Sorcery widebodykit, Tein coilovers, Volk Racing TE37, repaint and the items listed in my signature.

I couldn't help but to notice that the "total amount spent on mods" poll has thus far been taken to mean "lifetime total" as opposed to "annual total" or "total per month".

3_4_102.gif

I have that strange habit of writing down all my expenses.
That way I always know why I always have so much month left at the end of my money

So far, on modifications, I have spend the grand total of Euros 16574.84.
At todays exchange rate that equals to about US$ 22398.
This does not include my upcomming creditcard slip where my last items will be listed (new interior carpet and that World Famous Titanium NSX-key).
And I STILL have not done the supercharger or camshafts routine

This is just on modifications mind you.
It does not include the cost of having my NSX repaired after a slight crash on the Spa-Franchorchamps track in Belgium four years ago

I've spent quite a lot but soon found out that part x or y is not needed or didn't meet my expectations or is just a waste of money. But you've to been there to come to this conclusion. I've sold some parts, never mounted them and lost about 1/3 of all the expenses. Final conclusion: In doubt take no action.

There are a few maxims about modding that I believe, including:

Don't add up what I've spent - no good can come of knowing the total

the others are:

don't settle for less than what I want - every time I see the mod on my car I'll wish I spent the extra $$$ to get what I really wanted and the next time I have that amount in my pocket I'll wish I'd waited (this doesn't mean I get the best of the best, just that I get exactly what I want).

don't expect to get back much on those mods once/if I decide to sell the car

J
