I used to own a S2000 and now I'm looking for a 2000 to 2001 NSX w/no mods, no accidents and 1-2 owner. I've been looking at the for sale forum and autotrader.com. I've seen anywhere from $45,000-$55,000. What's a good deal and where could I get one? What did everyone paid for their NSX (2000-2001)? I'm still searching around just looking for the best deal. Any input are welcome, thanks!

For $55,000 there are many 2002s available with average mileage (15,000-20,000). Don't forget about the cosmetic upgrades that occurred in 2002. I think spending the extra few thousand for the 2002+ is a good idea, much like spending the extra few thousand for the 1997.

The 1996 has become a very unpopular year and I predict the 2001 may follow the same path...

For some strange reason, your correct. I can understand 1996 but 2001?

1996 & 2001 were the last years before both major changes. 2001's unpopularity isn't as apparent yet. It may not ever be as apparent as 1996 b/c the changes were more comprehensive in 1997 than 2002 overall.

IOW, you're REALLY making a poor choice by not spending the extra few $$ for the 1997. You're getting so much more for the xtra $ in the 97 opposed to the 96. You're only getting cosmetic changes in 02 including wheels and HIDs, but I think that is worth the 5,000 or less extra from 01 to 02.

Yes, I would love to get the 2002 but they are so much more expensive. I have a limited budget ($45k) but of course I do want the newest, cleanest and lowest mileage.....but that would never happen for $45K on the 2002 model. How much to do that headlight convertion?

Its more than just switching out headlights. You need a new hood, new bumper and a little tweaking to the fenders. In other words, it ain't gonna be cheap.

In your post it appeared you were able to go up to about 55K. Yes, a 2002 for 45-50K is going to be tough. Maybe a super-high mileage one...

You're better off buying an 02! The conversion costs about $5,500 in parts alone, not including sideskirts/fenders which have a subtle change. Paint is additonal.

Good luck in the search!

For some like myself with a 2001 we wanted the lastest model car BEFORE the change. Some prefer the earlier front end. But all NSX's are great
