I cannot fit inside the car with my helmet on unless i really slouch...

I am instructing this weekend at Summit and my S2000 cage isn't done yet, so I thought I would maybe take the NSX. I cannot even come close to sitting upright. I would have to take the top off and my helmet would clearly be higher than the roof of the car...???

do you guys have lowered seats?

Honestly I saw a couple germans at the track when I was over in Germany who were about 6ft and a lil over racing VW Bugs and Porsches and what not.

They would often get in and have someone hand them their helmet. And then bend over towrds the steering wheel and put it on, and then lean back as far as they could, trying to almost...like lock it in place I guess.

Dunno' if it helps, but its worth a shot:wink:

The answer to your question is most that need the extra room remove the seat cushion and use the Dali seat cushion in its place which gives then a few more inches of room.

If you search you will find a link for it

Gary Y. also has the same issue... last time I saw him at VIR he just completely removed the seat cushion... (he's taller than you I think)...

An option for ya..

My car is a leased 2005 NSX. I don't really want to rip it apart for one track day.

I have a track only S2000 but the cage is still being built.

So I guess a normal sized person just cannot use the NSX when it is all stock.

blaaa

thanks for the replies. :)

The only other alternative to removing the seat cushion is to remove the roof liner which will give you more space. I am 6'1" and did that for a while unitl I got the substitute seat cushion.

You may need to play around with the seat controls to find the settings that work best, and those settings may be different for the track. I'm about 5'9" and I have an NSX Coupe (slightly more headroom, I believe). I like the seat back full upright when driving on the street. On the track, with my helmet on, I have to recline the seat back (2-3 seconds on the control switch) to fit.

I Agree. I'm 5' 11'' and don't have any issues when I track my car. I slide the seat forward and tilt the seat up a bit. I think over 6' would be a issue. I do bump my helmet to the roof at certain places on the track. Then again I am driving on Type R susp.

I can not fit into my car confortably with a helmet. 6' 2".
I dont want to thin out the bottom of the cushion because those are really expensive seats. The only alternative I can see is to buy racing seats to replace the OEM. You can always sell those racing seats when you return the car at the end of the lease. Yes, you will lose a little money.

I'm 6'1" and had the same problem. I removed the seat bottom and bought a foam pad at the hobby store. When I'm done at the track I remove the foam and slide the OEM seat bottom back in. Takes less then a minute to swap them around

some people are taller torso and shorter legs and vice versa...... other than putting the seat way up and laying way back I will not fit with the stock stuff in place.....but I would look koooool....

The seat cushion just slides out? I am not that NSX smart to know that. that would probably provide enough room......but.... it is too late.... I am not going to the track this weekend now. :(

thanks for the link..... I think I will pass on that....... I just won't take this car to the track..... car with cage is safer anyway.

thanks again for all the posts....I thought I would take the NSX in a pinch but since I don't fit and I am not into ripping stuff apart, etc.... I am not going to worry about it.....

That's why there is an FAQ section! Not exactly slides out, but it's not that difficult. Here you go: http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/DIY/seatmods.htm

that's probably why my neck hurts now after going to the track. Slouching like crazy. I couldn't get out of my car with my helmet on.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about. Lack of headroom. Sheesh.

Here's why: my nickname at the local indoor kart track is "F1-Sized".

So, I can add this to the many good reasons to like being 5'5".
