How far the mighty have fallen. 3rd ranked in overall brand perception? It might be impressive if they weren't rated below Ford which has recently surged into second place with a strong product line. Also- take note the Green initiative has done nothing for Honda but lose ground with consumers since 2008. it's not selling cars.

how about getting us an S2000 replacement? Get back to being an engine and performance driven company again.

totally depressing...

Tru dat! Although I have to hand it to Ford for really getting their act together. They didn't accept any bailout money, they worked harder, got lean and are actually putting out some decent cars.

Personally, I think some of their cars look pretty good!

exactly why I bought ford stock.

That's good news for US auto industries, but why did take so long to turn around and get their act together? If we weren't in financial crisis would it have business as usual? The last time I could remember Ford was at it's best during the mid-late 60's.

Oh I agree regarding Fords climb- they definitely deserve credit, but the 28pt slide Honda has taken while Ford has made such a jump is the depressing thing.

I'm not trying to lampoon Ford, I'm just saying that it is a tell tale when one company can show so much improvement while another plummets so spectacularly. This tells me it isn't just a matter of a hostile market environment- it is the perception and quality of the product. Ford is building cars people like and want, while Honda is building green cars people don't give a shit about.

To put a finer point on it- if someone had asked you 3 years ago which company had a better line of products- Honda or Ford- which would you have endorsed?

3 years changes quite a bit.

Hyundai!

No seriously I said Hyundai. And I still think it. Like you said the market changes constantly and Hyundai is more proof that. I've currently own 2 Acuras and have owned 2 other Hondas, so people ask me if I'm loyal to that brand. My reply is, no, not really. I'm loyal to "good cars" no matter who the manufacturer is at the time I'm buying; whomever if that happens to be Honda, Ford or Hyundai. I supposed that makes a bit of a whore in way.:tongue: Well prostitution is legal in parts of Nevada.

Not a whore, just a smart consumer.

I'm not too concerned. "Consumer Brand Perception" is a soft category that really speaks to how well a company's PR, marketing and advertising departments are performing (what the public thinks) - not necessarily how well their cars perform. The article even says so:

"Measuring across those categories gives us the total brand perception and does not directly represent the actual qualities of any brand's vehicles."

+1

Just reminds us that Honda sucks at marketing.........

+1 Agreed.

And let's not forget, consumer perception also includes that consumer's expectations on the brand. My feelings for Ford and Chevy (which placed way higher than BMW, Lexus, etc.) aren't all that high, so yeah, if I got into a 2011, I might be "impressed" more than getting into a 2011 Honda or Toyota, but that doesn't mean they are higher overall in regards to quality.

Right now for anything new, I'm:

Ford > Honda/Acura

Honda has become.........blah in the past couple years unless I'm in the market for a lawnmower or generator or motorcycle.

....or a personal jet...or a robot.....

I was actually thinking about those two things. Then I thought Toyota for the Robot but worried it'd run it self off a cliff.

As for the jet.........way cool but...... G6! Sorry, had to run with the whole G6 hype going around lol

Really though.........If I could afford a personal Jet, I'd go for a different manufacturer with considerably more experience. And what am I gonna do with the Robot? lol Now if Honda would build Mech suits...........

I REALLY want a honda generator though.

Had a new Honda mower........... My 20+ year old snapper was WAY better.

What???? Honda builds cars???

That new Edge is damn good looking.
