ok now how can we get an exhaust to sound like that on a V6

First off, you will need to get rid of the muffler and cats.

Then... get your engine to rev to 19,000 RPM:biggrin:

ok sounds like a plan. Im almost there... no cats, muffler can come off easily (as it doesnt seem like the Taitec muffles anything anyway), now just have to work on spreading the vtech over the course of the 11000 or so rpms hidden in the bottom of the motor.

Oh BTW can i borrow your headers? :)

I can't seem to get the link to work!

If you ever get the chance, go to a Formula 1 race. I did Indy in 2000 (the first year back to the US after a long hiatus) and Montreal in 2003.

The scream, heard in-person, especially when sitting in the grandstands at Indy where the sound bounces off the roof, is ear-splitting. Even the cars at idle sound impressive. And when they come into pit lane with the speed limiters on, they pop and bang like crazy.

But the scream at full chat, at max RPM is truly intoxicating.

Yes I agree, a Formula 1 race is a must for every car enthusiast. It was one of the biggest experiences in my life. Will definetley go again if I get the chance. When your chest vibrates and your eardrum almost pop, you know you are having a thrill just sitting there on a seat. :D

I wish I was part of a Formula 1 team, that would have been a dream come true :)

Seen an NHRA event lately? The funny cars are making about 7000 (estimated) horsepower nowadays. Thats roughly the HP of one F1 ingine in each cylinder. They use about 4 gallons of gas per quarter mile. Del Worsham's cheif mechanic said the gas flow is approximately the same as a shower head in each cylinder.

And the sound?

Actually never heard of it? Googled it and it looks like drag event. We have some dragracing events here now and then, but I don't get the same kick watching drag racing as I get watching F1 :) But NHRA sure looks like something I would love to experience on day.

What about both? When I went to the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim this past summer, just before the race, they did an exhibition run of a Funny Car right in front of the grandstands. The sound was unbelievable! You could feel the vibration in your chest and you could see the flames go 15 feet into the air. All this from a 1 second exhibition run. :)

The crowd loved it.

Oh, no doubt. Funny cars and top fuel drag cars are definitely louder than an F1 car. And the performance is awe-inspiring. An F1 goes, turns and most impressively, stops better than any other type of car on the planet, since that is what it is designed for. A funny car or top fuel car goes down a 1/4 mile better than any other type of car on the planet, no doubt. Again, 'cuz that's what it's designed for.

Some crazy statistics (unsubstantiated) I've heard:

0-100 in around 1 second, in around 75 feet (or less).

Pulling 1+ g at the end of the 1/4 mile, pulling from 280-300 MPH.

That's absolutely insane and a spectacle to behold. Anyone that straps themselves into one of these land-bound freaks is brave, talented, and maybe a little bit crazy, and has my utmost respect.

But I still like the sound, the changes of direction, and the braking of an F1 car most of all.
