Honda Accord replacement - Ford Fusion or Hyundai Sonata (or ? maybe...)

Hey S14 has a point about the smart key comparison. I also have a Prius in the stable, so I forget what I'm doing at times. Yes the smart key is a great feature and I would pay extra to buy it. I wouldn't base my car purchase choice on it's availability though.

my tawtz...

As the current Accord & Camry don't strike the O.P.'s fancy, other viable competitors don't resonate either (ie. Altima, Mazda6, Passat, Malibu), and the Sonata & Fusion are viable options - then here's my own thoughts as to what I'd do...

- consider a near'new pre-owned premium import near-luxury midsize sports-sedan (as-equipped original MSRP of $37.5k - $47.5k), inclusive of a CPO/extended manufacturer's warranty of up to 8-yrs/120k-miles. Such offerings may include:

* 2nd gen '10+ Acura TSX-V6 Tech
* 3rd gen '08 Acura TL Type-S
* 2nd gen '05-'08 Acura RL Tech
* 5th gen MMC '09+ Lexus ES350
* 2nd gen MMC '08+ Infiniti M35

These are all generally reliable/dependable, well built/equipped, reasonable running-costs, and in the price-realm of the more economical models being considered.

- firm on wanting brand-new, put in some time/effort & look into the Kia Optima, as it has quite the presence exterior-wise, well equipped, and if significantly based on the ever-improving Sonata platform, well - it possibly can be a solid ride for ~10 years

- if already set on the Sonata -or- Fusion, then go w/ one of them & call it a day
