Hello,

Has anyone done HillClimbing race? How different is it from the HPDE at various tracks? There is an event in Vermont, and it says that no prior experience is required.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Hold On Tiger!

Hold on Tiger!
Hill climbs are generally run on public roads, which are closed off to traffic during the event. Check the route. Is the road tree lined? With your limited NSX experience at speed you might be putting yourself and your car in harm's way. The dynamics of speed like weight transfer and throttle steering are acquired skills which can quickly turn into TTO to the novice.
This year go and just watch the event. Keep going to HPDE events as a novice student. Public roads are normally two lanes wide. A racetrack is usually three to four lanes wide.
Don't put the cart before the horse and your NSX into a tree.

Thank you, Peter.
That is exactly what I needed to hear.
The organizer at the HillClimb event kept telling me that the Novice are welcome, but I did not feel too comfortable.

Once again, thanks for your time.

FYI: A couple of folks died a couple of years ago doing the Virginia City hillclimb in NV when a Viper went off. I believe that the Audi Club and the Ferrari Club used to host events there, these days the Ferrari Club is the only one that hosts the climb. Too many risks :(.

Hill climbs sponsored or run by scca are considered solo 1 so only those with a comp license and a proper roll cage or bar need apply.I for one would not feel cumfy trying to be competitive in an unrestricted non regulated hill climb in my street car.
