This is my NSX after I installed some so call "HID" light bulb I got on Ebay for US$15

Can't really tell for sure on the picture comparison, but looks like those cheap wannabe HID lights that's installed on many civics. In real life you can really ID the fake from the real...

edit: I can't spell.

Check out the HID kit at www.road-fashion.com, its an 8000K and installs in about 1 hour, have it on mine and works great. I think the 8000k kit sells for 545.00 for club members and 465.00 for the 6000K kit. Good Luck

The 8000k HID bulbs are new on the market. Please note that while the 8000k bulbs has this cool purplish color to it, it's not as bright as the 6000k bulbs. And it wouldn't surprise me if the police will give you a ticket for having purple lights

Just my 2 cents... YMMV

Henry.

well having them on my car, they dont look purple, only a small tint of blue, as far as brightness i wes next to an nsx with 6000k and there was a considerable difference in brightness the 8000 being brighter and cleaner light

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there's no way a 8000 kelvin HID unit is brighter (or as bright as) than a 6000 kelvin HID unit. BTW, of the 8000K units I have personally seen all of them look purple, and from the driver's perspective, the 8000K units are significantly worse than the 6000K units in terms of light output. From an aethestic POV it may be cooler, but personally, I'd rather have more light (between 5000-6000K). See chart below.

fangtl is correct. The 8000k kits are a gimmick. In addition to the lower contrast and less intense light they produce, these kits produce more glare for oncoming drivers. Unfortunately, people are drawn to the higher Kelvin rating and "purple" look.

Since the mainstream HID manufactures do not sell gimmicks, it appears that the quality of these 8000K kits are also much lower than the well built kits aimed at performance rather than quick sales.

MiamieNeSeX: I think you may want to read it again. The chart is like a bell curve in terms of brightness, it's significantly dimmer at the outlying ends and brightest around the 5000-6000K mark. For the purposes of the discussion, 8000K is equivalent to a cloudy sky/light shade; whereas 5000-6000K is compared to midday sunlight.

might be a curve on the chart but I saw them side by side this weekend and the 8000k look much brighter and cleaner than the 6000k

They may look brighter when u look at the lights side by side but what you should be concerned with is the amount of usable light you get from the hid lamp ur using .... if you take both cars out to a pitch black stretch of road with is covered by black asphalt you will immediately see the difference.
