HID installed. Before and after pics

Looks great!! Whats with this rumor that HID will be illegal in the USA???

install instructions?

Do these kits come with install instructions? I guess it wouldn't be that hard to install them but some diagrams would be nice.

I got mine from cartoka too.

I'm extremely pleased with the light output. I relay further sentiments about the light adjustment. The little area that the service manual shows for adjusting the light is not nearly as effective as adjusting the stopper bolts on the backside of the hinge mechanism. Several turns really dials the cut-off up or down.

I too had problems figuring out how to get all the stuff to stay inside the cap and be able to twist it on, into the locking position. My second one went much smoother.

I had some challenges getting one side to not bounce for the view of other drivers. (Wife drove ahead and reported back to me how it looked) By tweaking those rubber stopper positions, that fixed that problem right up (THANKS NORM for the Recommendation!)

OVERALL: WOW, what a difference! highly recommend the product from cartoka!

It took us about 2 hours to do. 30 minutes of that was the weather caps.. they were a bitch!

We just used a drill bit to do the caps. No problem there. It is pretty simple, but much easier with two people I would say.

The instructions are pretty much useless. We used the DIY on here and winged the rest. I can tell you that this kit is MUCH easier that the one in DIY section. Basically, take off the headlights, remove the low beam, stick in the HID, drill the cap, run the wires through and put the cap back on. Then reinstall the lamp, connect all the wires and mount the kit.

It really isn't hard... but it wasn't as swift of an install as I had hoped for.

It only took norm 1.5 hours, but he did not have the trouble we had with the caps.

i did it myself and agree with netviper. The DIY here is helpful only to the point right before it talks about unscrewing that middle screw in the removed light assembly and then feeding wires through this rubber grommet. Scrap that! drill the holes in the back of the weather caps and don't remove that center screw or rubber grommet.

It took me about 3 hours total. 2 hours were spent mostly fitting the weather cap and connection harness behind that cap. It is a very tight fit. Removal and replacement of the light assemblies only requires a phillips head screw driver and a 10 mm socket wrench.

bilulan, which kit did you get? can you post pics, also.. thanks.

I am an interested observer in this thread too. But I haven't seen anyone mention doing this to the high beams though. For those of you who have done the upgrade to your low beams, do you want/plan to upgrade your high beams as well?

i wonder if you need a different ballast for the high beams.

No plans for high beams. I believe it would require another ballast and not used enough to justify the expense.

My ballasts are phillips osram kit with 6000k temperature for $375 shipped. I was skeptical to go with the korean kit and albert @cartoka recommended the phillips kit over the hela ballasts ($360 shipped.) My light output is the same as korean kits that have been posted before though. No real difference. In fact it appears packaging is the same for whichever kit you order. They just put different ballasts inside the box and put a sticker label on the outside if it is 6000k or 8000k color temp.
It is like night and day went you flick the high beams on.

I will take some pictures. Pictures don't seem to capture the difference as well as in person. I wish I would have taken some shots after doing only one side. Makes the oem light look like the insignificant running lights installed under the headlight.

I do plan on looking into replacing those wedge bulbs with something whiter/bluer. They don't quite look right.

No one else has posted this related to the korean ballasts, but after turning on my headlights after a moderate to long inactive period, the lights go on immediately and seem to intensify over a 6 to 8 second period. When I was doing research on which kit to buy, this seemed to be a more preferred type of igniting system. Don't know if there is any durability benefit from this....

No. I tend to use my high beams more to flash people than for driving, and HID is not as good for that. HID needs several seconds to come up to full brightness.

Netviper, glad to see the money we sent you is being put to good use.:p

That was a very special gift from all of you. Once again, I would just say that nsx owners are the best group of peope I have ever had the honor of knowing and being a part of.

i ordered a set of 6000k HID kit from albert.

i want to get a some parking light bulbs or wedge bulb (168 serie?) to match the HID. I am not sure what you guys call it, basically the signal blinker or parking light.. right underneath the headlights.

what do you guys recommend? should i get LED ones .. super white one? plasma,? purple or blue.. this is getting confusing

pls help

thanks

I hear ya... I want some too but it is confusing. There is not a store around here that carries what I want.

I think we need a 1157 parking light. I was going to get Hyper White...

I've finally got a day off tomorrow, and I plan on purchasing a few different bulbs from PEP boys/discount auto parts/ or autozone. After I try a few, I will post the model that most closely resembles the 6000k's in color

I got the Raybrig Wedge lights from SOS. They look almost identical to the HID colour (6400K kit).
