Comments The philosophy behind the F1 road car was simple - to be the finest driver's car ever built. This meant producing a car not only with outstanding performance but one as versatile and usable as an everyday vehicle. The McLaren F1 benefits from extensive Formula One technology and experience. It is the worlds first production road car to feature an all carbon fiber monocoque and body structure. This unique material combines the low weight necessary for performance with exceptional strength to exceed industry safety requirements. McLaren commissioned the BMW S70/2 engine, designed and built specifically for the F1. This 6.1 litre, quad-cam, 48-valve V12 power unit produces no less than 627 bhp and propels with F1 through a six-speed gearbox. The F1 includes many radical design features such as: a central driving position, "ground-plane shear" suspension geometry, intelligent brake cooling, and fan-assisted ground-effect aerodynamics. In March 1998, the F1 confirmed it was the fastest production car in the world, achieving a record top speed of 240.14mph. Only 64 McLaren F1 road cars were built.

WOO-HOOOO!! Now I just have to have prova4re 'taken care of' and I will be #1 on the list....hehehe. ;)

That poor car only has 7,900 miles on it after 10 years!?!? You would not be able to pry me out of that car if I had it. Heck, it even says in the ad that it was designed to be usable as a daily driver!!

By the end of my first year with that car it would have 40,000 miles on it for sure.....if not more.

Hey now!! I was already on the list as #2. No cutting in line. :)

I called the dealer and asked a few questions... he stated that the carfax is ABSOLUTELY incorrect. it was imported from tokyo from one of his best customers in 2001. he even had a fancy british accent!

asking price: 1.95mil

2 million dollars?!

I'd be in a Veyron 16•4... and build a house for 2 million bucks...

although thats the first McLaren I've seen that I like. Gorgeous. They should have all been red

Had no idea those were 3-seaters. I bet its a trip to drive in the middle.

Thanks, I really didn't know. I thought maybe the European market would be accustomed to shifting with the left hand instead of the right, thus wanting the shifter on the left.

Well the British shift on the left side but they got right-hand drive like new zealand, pakistan, japan etc. and they drive on the wrong side too. :)

Be careful when using the generalism "Europeans" - only the Brits & Irish drive "Right hand drives" with the rest of Europe being the same as US being "Left hand drive" .
For most cars in Britain & Ireland however, you are correct in that the shifter is normally in the centre console and the driver shifts with his left hand. The F1 is an exception to that rule.

I think they are way out of line with the price, they are trying to sell this car for more than a brand new one just sold for.

Maybe I am boring but I want a silver one with black interior.

Funny story -
My wife & I were visiting the old country (Scotland - she's a native Californian however) and we went in my mother's car back to the airport day after our arrival to pick up a rental. So Michelle had to drive the rental back to the house while I drove my mother's home - we got an automatic for the rental to make it easier (side note: auto's are the exception rather than the norm throughout Europe & normally a premium at rental companies & only on the higher end cars!) This was her first experience of not only driving abroad but on the 'wrong' side!
When we got back home we had a good laugh when she shared this story: there is a bridge with toll booth on the return trip - all the way from the airport to the bridge Michelle (by herself now) was nervous, wondering how she was going to reach over to the other side of the car to give the money to the toll attendant! It hadn't clicked till she actually got there that obviously the toll guy is on the same side as the driver! <!--StartFragment -->

She actually laughed at herself when she was pulling up to the booth!
