7. this is my 2nd problem, i have both of the lap harnesses clipped on to the "eye" bolt as you can see, i need to find where i can clip my shoulder harnesses because this comptech harness bar was made for those wrap around shoulder harnesses

8. this is where i need to mount/attach the shoulder harnesses. someone suggested that i not drill a holl in the bar and slide the eye bolt in there with a nut and washer cause it ruins the whole structure of the bar. im debating on taking this to a shop and having them build a custom bracket to hold the eye bolt in

9. this is a close up of the lap harness clipped into the eye bolt

10. so now im just wondering what i should do, all your opinions are welcomed, and no i do not want to go with another racing harness, i love the takata harnesses way too much lol

thanks

For my Scrotch shoulder harnesses are mounted in a wrap around method, so they just wrap around the bar (the one just below the head rest) with a double hole bracket(big clip). You can slip the harness belts under each headrest, once you make sure the upholstry strap between the headrest and the seatback is is clear.

Sorry, but I do not have my digital camera today:(.

i like your option, please when you have time take pics of your setup..
i prefer to keep the Takata harnessess
mine are not the wrap around method, they are the clip method..

for some reason, the is something blocking me from sliding the shoulder harness under the head rest, i'll take a pic of that

you should just get some aftermarket seats. doesnt seem to safe
understood, but i love the oem seats, power seats and leather, hehe..
plus since i have another car project going on i can't afford a racing seat right now

Would something similar to this work?

that looks like something i need, but i was told not to drill any holes in the harness bar..
i need some bracket that can just cling on hard to the bar with a washer and nut or something!

the entire idea behind racing harnesses is safety. thus if you don't do it right, it's not worth doing it all. doing it wrong is more dangerous than just using your stock belts. i too had the wrong schroth harnesses and had to swap them (plus $$$) for the right ones. don't mickey mouse this, get the proper harnesses or just sell it all and be done with it.

What you have is a harness bar not a roll bar. It important to know the difference. A harness bar will not keep the driver compartment from collapsing
as it doesn't have any lateral supports either forward or backward. Additionally the SCCA requires at least 5-6 inches above the helmet which in the NSX is difficult unless you have racing seats...which you don't.

thinking of going that route too

well im glad im not in the SCCA, anyways the harness bar is used to support the racing harness

I say you sell the bar to me

Although my pull the belt and scoot the seat up method is great... a harness seems MUCH better...

seriously though.. like i mentioned on the phone.. harnesses are serious stuff.. if ANYTHING.. just please do it right.

guys went to home depot and look at this eye bolt, the hole eye doesn't looked close, im thinking of drilling a bigger hole where those to lil bolts go in
couldn't really find the right side but saw something close to it

This does not require you drilling into the bar.

question, how can i mount that to the horizontal bar on the harness bar?

thanks

When you get bolts or hardware from home depot for your car make sure you check the bolt rating. I don't think you can use those bolts for this harness, as those are what we called butter bolt. It will snap easily, and don't have any rating whatsoever.

The harness eyebolt that come with your harness kit are forged steel.

Please be careful when installing safety item on your car. Improper installation.using the wrong hardware can provide a false sense of safety, and even worse will cause more harm in the event of accident or what was not suppose to be an accident at all.

where can i find this forged steel

Also you will notice the eyelet you show in the pic has an opening at one end of the loop. This is useless for this application, very unsafe.

Do not use any eye bolts or bolts from a standard hardware store for your harness fittings. They are simply not strong enough and definitely would not pass a tech inspection if you have to go through one. Buy the correct eye bolt from a reputable seatbelt manufacturer like Simpson, Sparco, Schroth, and so on. You're playing with your life here so don't go cheap unless you feel you're not worth a few bucks more.

Why haven't you attached the lap belts on the factory points which are on the driver's seat. That's what I've done with my Schroth belts and it works great. If the stock belt fits there, then an aftermarket belt might as well.

Good luck.

are u talking about the seat belt? it wont work for me, can u do me a favor and take a pic of that? y
Good luck.

as it comes to turn out, tig welding the forged eye bolts to the horizontal harness bar will be my only resort

if anyone disagrees, please speak up..
and if anyone would know the average price to do this kind of work, please let me know what price to expect
thanks,
Greg
