Help with error code!

Does anyone know what error code P0420 "catalyst System Efficiency below Threshold Bank 1" would be? I took the car to a friend's dealership but they only work on GM. They pulled the code for me and they said they have no idea what it means. Any help would be appreciated.

Avoid that dealership in the future. P0420 is a generic code, GMs and all.

This code indicates you have a cat that has failed. The 0420 is the rear cat (Bank 1).

What year NSX?

If the car is a 1995-97 the replacement is FREE based on the following TSB:

You will need to go to an Acura dealership to get this honored.
