Hello and good day to everyone. I am presently experiencing an intermittent drivetrain noise that is driving me nuts. First I should say that my car get driven like once a month, so she spends most of her time sitting. The noise resembles the sound of badly worn driveshaft and only occurs between 2500 to 3500 rpms. I should also note that the noise refuses to show itself under hard acceleration. Took the car to a local shop, had the driveshafts and muffler checked out but found nothing loose. The mechanic was not sure but he told me it might be the muffler or tires. (wouldn't the noise always be present if it was the tires?) I personally think that the noise is coming from the transmission (manual) but I could be wrong. Any input on my problem will be greatly appreciated. Thanks prime.

Took the car to several shops to get different mechanics opinions of the noise. Most think that the noise is coming from the right driveshaft. I guess that sounds correct from the nature of the sound. I should also note that the sound has become even more pronounce once the car has travelled about 10 miles or thereabout. can someone who has had a worn driveshaft please explain what it sounded like?

Its just the noise in your head  Just kidding I will pm you.

My mechanic lifted up the car and rotate the rear tire. On the right side he hear clicking noise coming from the right driveshaft. Yes the clicking sound come under slow accelearation around the RPM you stated.

Well finally took the car to certified honda tech. who assured me that the noise is indeed coming from my driveshaft. Now if only someone can tell me where I can get a good deal on a left and right drive shaft. 2000 euros from honda seems a little steep. The car will be on jackstands for the winter months, so I have adequate time to shop around. Once again thanks prime, for creating a site that is the most any nsx owner can wish for.
