hi everyone im interested in buying this car in toronto,

http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehi...AdIdZ310432241

anyone know anything about it? I think the price is pretty good for this 97 car, I went to see it and the owner said the engine was blown and replaced with a 2002 motor, but has no proof of it, it has O2 sensor problem, check engine light is on and left front ball joint need replace. I test drove it and could not tell much since I never drove a nsx before.
Anyway, let me know what you guys think and if any of you experienced nsx owners have time, maybe could help me go check the car out again together.
thanks.

seems like its in good shape in the pictures...however with a blown motor and it being replaced with no proof sounds kind of improbable that the owner wouldnt have at least some sort of invoice for such a major job as replacing the motor...

did you ask the owner to have the car PPI at one of the acura dealers that nsx club of canada deals with? just to be sure

The NSX Club of Canada can help arrange for an Inspection.

If you are worried about the Engine, and the owner is willing, you can take it down to Acura of Oakville for a leak down test, and a full Inspection. Our Club Techinical Director is the Chief Tech at this dealership. It may cost a few $$ but save you Thousands $$ in the long run.

I don't know this car, and it look like the owner import it from the US. How long did he own the car for, this will give you a good indication of problems.

One more thing the seats are mis matched....Onxy seat (Black) with a Tan interior was not an Option from Acura.

There is some type of story on this car...be careful

Listing says Canadian Car, but there are no DRLs and the Speedo looks to be in Miles/hr. I kinda like the black seats on the tan interior.

Humm ad says "Brand new tires, clutch and rear brakes. Comptech exhaust but the rest of the car is stock. 6 spd manual, 3.2 L motor, clean title, canadian car. "

He failed to mention the motor was replaced in the ad but thats fine, no biggie on having receipts etc but as long as he can prove he did it or had it done. As for the ball joints and O2 sensors these are wear and tear items, but question that on a car with only 83k on it?

He also claims its clean title... but he also claims its a Canadian car but its a US import? Something doesn't feel right here man, tread carefully and have it inspected. Have you done a Carproof or Carfax on it yet to help verify the title?

Man, for that you can probably afford mine, and then I can finally pick up that JDM NSX-R ;)

and for that price you can definitely afford mine, and its known its a clean Canadian car
that car has red flags all over the place

Thanks for the input everyone, actually, the price when I asked him, he told me the lowest he would sell is 26,500, I thought that was really unreasonably low for this car, might be something wrong, but he told me he had to buy a house, make the down payment, he had 3 cars, etc. seems like he is lying.
But I would never know, maybe he really needs to sell it?
I think I would need an inspection from the NSX club, I sent you a pm Bram, thanks.

I dont think that this car is worth sending to PPI but Im sure someone will be able to go check it out for you.

But Im pretty sure the review will come back as a complete mess. This car is either salvaged or flooded, or has some other type of extreme issue. A really nice one without an engine would sell for more than $26k.

You have to see the potential. This reminds me of the black one that sold for $18k. Yes, it's never going to be a collectors example but if you are looking for a fix er upper special that you would customize, take to the track, and get some eybeballs around town it could be a car for you. Are there any mechanics on here? I don't want to step on anyone's feet before I continue.

The $18K NSX would be an awesome track car. As long as the car is straight and engine tranny is solid I would strip it down to bare aluminum (even take the paint off and show off that amazing silver finish), throw on Biobanker's OMP seats, R-comps and a harness bar and have fun.

Hey John, are you being serious? I really like your car and if you are willing to take 30 something, I will buy yours.

30 something?

Pass.

I WAS WRONG!

Throw my OMP carbon kevlar buckets in that car and it will be the hottest NSX in all of the world!

Dave, if I was 40 lbs lighter I'd get those in a heartbeat. I'm actually trying to find kevlar backed buckets in red :(

I am losing weight, but I don't think I'll ever get down to your size 32 waist buddy :)

Dave must wear women's jeans like Justin Bieber :biggrin:
