Help! o2 sensor codes - possible bad ECU?

Here's the story:

Replaced the transmission in my 95 with a 91 tranny, and after putting everything back together, the CEL and TCS light came on. Once the engine warmed up and (presumably) went into closed loop, the engine would stumble and sputter part throttle but ran fine cold or full throttle (the short term solution was obvious )

Drove like that for a while until I got around to fixing it.

I assumed that some of the o2 sensor plugs were swapped, so reset the codes, and swapped plugs around, always getting codes relating to o2 sensors. (Since I have headers, I can swap more plugs than I could if I didn't)

Finally, with no success I looked up the routing of each connector to the proper sensor and verified that they were connected correctly. Still got error codes for Bank 1 front and rear sensors.

Took it to an Acura mechanic (with NSX experience) who swapped out the rear bank (1) sensors with new ones, same result.

The codes are P0135 B1S1 and PO141 B1S2 which i believe are heater control sensor failures.

Verified that both sensors are getting battery voltage and ground, and that there are no shorts to ground on the heater control wires.

At this point, the troubleshooting flowchart says to swap out the ECU.

Thoughts??

I would assume that just swapping o2 sensors wouldn't damage an ECU, and it's strange that the problem popped up immediately after the tranny swap.

Any help would be appreciated before buying an ECU.

Thanks,

I have had more than one car come in with this problem , the problem I have seen is that the downstream sensors are installed into the wrong headers , so now the ECU makes a change in the the bank 1 cylinders and does not see the result on the downstream sensor so it pulls a code.

Really appreciate the reply!

I'll swap the sensor 2 connectors for the banks, reset the ECU and let you know what happens.

Thanks, Angus!

It's actually easy to confuse them if you have headers , all 4 can be mixed up if you try hard enough...
