Guys, I have a 1992 NSX 5-speed, daily driver, car starts runs for a few seconds, then dies, if i start it with Wide open throttle the car revs and stays on for those fews seconds, then dies,, I hear the Fuel pump, brand new spark plugs( a month ago ) fuel injector cleaner last week, has full tank of gas,, no errors on the cluster, except oil light, checked the dip stick barely anything in it,, the oil light stays on, my question is does the ecu turn the car off to prevent engine damage? there have been no oil leaks in my driveway, so i dont see where all that oil went,, couldnt have burned it off that quick, the last oil change was 2 weeks ago! checked all the fuses, reset the ecu,, but if there is no oil will the car die to prevent damage? I think thats the problem!! any suggestions? on my way to work this morning Im late!!! LOL

That happend to me a year ago. Sounds like your main relay or ignition switch. Lots of threads in prime on this issue. You could replace your main relay for about 70 bucks or take it apart and re solder the leads. again lots of threads on how to do this. Even threads on how to clean and repair the ignition switch. just goto search and put either main relay or ignition switch. good luck.

Is there really no oil in the engine?? Who did the service, and are you sure they put oil back in??

If there is no oil, I think you have bigger problems besides stalling out.

no checked the oil was fine, well rather did an oil change like 5 minutes ago!! I removed the oil drain plug to see if it was empty,, nope was fine,, , called off of work having to drive the 05 TL today daRn!!! but i got the tools out so this will be a fun day!! will be tring your ideas guys!! thanks will keep you posted

First thing I would do is disconnect the Fuel Pump Resistor and short out the connector on the harness with a paperclip. See if it runs;).

Ok did the Main relay soldering trick, didnt work, took the ignition switch out cleaned the connections/ sand paper, did nothing, took the ignition switch outta my 94 Legend then took the NSX ignition switch guts out and replaced them with the exact same from the Legend, same problem, starts runs for a few seconds all the while you can rev it but then it dies, fuel pump presurizes the system , then unglugged the ignition switch pigtail from the main harness looked inside of the pigtail was melted? maybe from age, used exact-o knife to cut the melted section away so as the pigtail will seat in the plug perfectly,, did nothing,, I dont know,, what else to try,, had car towed to dealship, followed the guy in my other car, normally they add the tow cost to the bill,,, well the guy at the dearship said if i do that they automaticly ad 30% to the tow bill,,, so paid the tow guy cash,, saved 50 bucks,,, like that matters,, any other ideas guys what it could be? starts perfectly idle goes to normal 8-900 rpm (normal) then a few sec later dies,, start the car again same thing starts perfect idle goes to normal then dies,, Yikes my baby it hurt!!

in case you are not aware.. Larry B (above poster) is an nsx guru in the professional sense.. not a shade tree mechanic. If he says to try it... you might want to try it...

OK update, Acura called me said that my alarm window controller was the issue, is fried the fuel pump relay, because the alarm was hooked up to the fuel pump relay for the antitheft, I dont know what the bill is going to be but it doesnt sound that bad,, but labor is whats gonna be the issue,, thanks for all you guys help,,

Another update! total out the door $849.44 for DTC 47 , Fuel pump Circuit. the alarm shorted out Fuel pump resistor, ignition switch, and a 50amp fuse in the engine bay,, I have a question was I over charged for labor?? 600 bucks labor!! seems high to me! what do you guys think?
so parts were
1 35130-SLO-003
1 782-2039
1 16717-PR7-A01
2 35103-SE3-003 parts $124.00

LARRY you were right!!

Yes, you were overcharged. You should have just paid to diagnose it and did it yourself.

Fuel Pump resistor is extremely easy to get to and takes about 5 minutes. The ignition switch you already taken out before. The fuse...I'll let you figure that one out.

Ask them how they broke down the book time for labor.
1 hour to open engine hatch
5 minutes to install fuel pump resistor
1 hour to open hood
5 minutes to install fuse
:)
