Help. Noise while driving from the rear

I took my nsx out today and I thought that I had a flat tire. It was making a sound that sounded like a flapping from the rear tire. I stopped the car and looked at the tire and it was fine. The sound is happing when I put the car in nutral, from 30-5 mph. I was thinking maybe a half shaft or something. Sounds like a flapping during the revolution of the tire.

I figured out that it was the wheel. 4 out of the 5 lug nuts sheared off. I am very lucky that my wheel did not come off.

I bought the car with aftermarket wheels and there are spacers on the car. I am wondering if the studs are not long enough or did the nuts just get loose.

Found this link to studs.

They are probably the ebay or Dali spacers(I have seen multiple pics of the studs on those breaking or shearing). Take them off and buy some quality H&R spacers if they are needed to clear your brake calipers.

When you say "sheared off", do you mean the threads on the studs are stripped? It could just be the last person to take the wheel off didn't retighten the nuts when he put the wheel back on (some people - me - do not tighten/torque the nuts until we lower the car onto the wheel). How many turns do the nuts make when they are installed?

And yes, you are very lucky!

Here is a pic of the wheel studs. You can see only one was left. What do I need to do. I have the brake and rotor off. I am working on getting the studs out. Do I need to buy a different spacer? Longer studs? I want it to be safe and I am worried now. I was so close to losing a wheel.

Those are cheap spacers and look like 10mm. You can get away with stock studs with 3mm or 5mm but absolutely no more than 5mm. Question is, why do you have them? If you really need/want spacers, order a set of H&R as they come with studs also. Throw those away.

Whoever last put that wheel on didn't tighten it down properly. Vibration made the lug nuts back off just enough to create the torque necessary to shear the lugs right off!

I have these wheels on my car.

I love them. What wheels can I get that look like these that I will not need spacers for?

The car has spacers on all four. The calipers are stock. I am going to try them with out spacers but the front wheels look like they are needed to clear.

Well I tried the wheel on with out the spacer and it did not fit. It would hit the caliper. Could they be the wrong offset and the previous owner just put spacers on it?

How do I go about find out what offset I need. I want to get wheels that do not use spacers. I am not fond of them now that I almost lost a wheel. :)

Can I just order some new ones with the correct offset? How can I measure the wheels I have now to see what they are?

I believe the wheels you have aren't made in the exact offset needed and hence need the little 3mm spacer. I suggest using a small 3mm spacer.

Btw, you should play the lotto. Give me 50% when you hit.

Thats just how the wheel is designed. Many here have had those wheels, all have used a spacer.
