Hi people, I am in a bit of a bind. I have a 2001 Z06 with 4.5k miles. I am getting 37.5k for my car. They have a 98 NSX 6spd targa with 23K miles for 50K. They said no accidents or bad title...they will give me a car fax tomorrow. I brought the car home wiht my father to think about it. Great condition on the car. The engine seems stock, but I hear a whistle sound when I accerlerate a lil on the hard side..like an intake I would imagine. But it doesnt seem like they changed it. It is a dealership in DownersGrove called LuxuryMotors, so maybe you guys know them?? Go to their website..www.luxurymotors.com and search for NSX....its a 98 red one...I would really appreciate any help at this short notice..I have til tomorrow to decide..My name is Eddie, nice to meet all of you.

I went the their site. not much there smal pictures and etc.

just 1 question I want to ask. is the hood seems to be well aligned when the headlights down? lined with headlight cover and etc?
Its just a question I popped out evertime I see a dealer with only pictures of the car's head lights up.

And second the bore of the exhaust seems a little big for stock.. but I'm not sure.. anyone?

ANyways.. they let you drive the car home? enjoy it!

Check out these links: http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/BuySell/pricing.htm http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/BuySell/used_nsx_checklist.htm

Other classifieds, check E-bay, etc. http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/BuySell/buy_sell_resources.htm

Don't forget the usual questions besides running a CarFax. If you can have it inspected, if your serious about it, unless the dealership has another buyer who's put money or a trade down on it but in the middle of a decision, they'll flex and wait for an inspection by an NSX specialist/dealership (if not already performed).

The more service history the better. Where has it been the last 5 years? Is 50k their first offer or the haggled down price?

Taking it home is always another hook into you, but if you go in there saying I gotta have it, they're gonna want their price for it. Thats not too terrible or a bad price for a '01 Z06.

Good luck,
Sunny

Edit: P.S. Think on it. Think about it tomorrow. Have it inspected and think on it s'more. If you can't seem to stop thinking about it for a week, then there's only one cure thats going to stop the anxiety.. to find your checkbook.

Nothing against luxury motors, but last time I checked two of their NSXs (both red), they weren't as clean as they had promised to be.

I have been to Luxury Motors to check out cars for prospective buyers. Sometimes the cars check out fine. I know at least two owners (including one on this board) who have gotten great NSXs at fair prices from them. There are both positive and negative comments if you do a search on these forums.

If there's a whistling sound, the first thing I would check is the intake. If it's a stock air filter, it will fit inside the airbox, which is a black plastic box, just like it sounds. Most of the aftermarket intakes are either exposed cones or some other arrangement, and make a whoosh type of noise. There are aftermarket air filter elements that fit the stock airbox but I suspect that they sound just like the stock one.

I would HIGHLY recommend getting the NSX checked out. I went to check out one NSX from Luxury Motors and turned out bad. I took it to Acura dealer down the street from them which revealed a lot of problems. I think it was Acura of Westmont. Their NSX mechanic was very thorough in inspection. I agree that not all the cars they carry are bad but they carry all types of high end sports cars and they don't necessary carry only the good ones. Since the dealer isn't far, Luxury Motors shouldn't have any problem sending it in for inspection. Or at least, get one of the MidWest NSXprime member to check it out. Best of luck...

Hi,

I bought my Zanardi from Luxury Motors. Ken Sax was nice enough to check it for me. I also had them get the car inspected by a local Acura dealership. I can't remember which one though. Ken do you remember?

At any rate I was trading in my 96 that was in great condition (I bought it new) on a used car that I didn't lay eyes on until the truck showed up down here to drop the Z off and pick up my car. I was careful and I couldn't be happier.

My advice is to look at the car or have someone you trust to look at it. Then have a dealership look at it.

Hope this helps,

Yes, the Zanardi you bought from them was very nice.

Although Luxury Motors is closer to two other Acura dealerships, I recommended that it be taken to Woodfield Acura in Hoffman Estates (847-519-9550) because Woodfield does far more NSX service work than either of the closer dealerships (or any other of the nine Acura dealerships in the Chicago area).

Well..I came back with my Z06, but not because I didnt love the car. Im just not informed enought about them to decide if the car is a good buy. I would APPRECIATE if any member on here can give it a look over for me?? I drove the car all night and the next morning and am in love with it. Very different from my Z06, and just a pleasure to drive with all the smiles i get on the road. I told them Id think about it this week, and let them know. At the end, they were basically giving me 40K for my Z06 which is what I owe, and getting the car for like 49K. Its a 98 NSX-T with 23k 6spd. Let me know if anyone can please do me the huge favor of checking it out for me...Thanks a bunch and hopefully I will have a new NSX in my driveway next week=)
