Hey there fellow NorCal Prime members. I recently purchased an NSX. It's a Berlina Black '02. Most of you are probably familiar with it, it's Shawn's '02 rebuild. Flew out to Tampa, handed over a check, drove it back to Sacramento. Anyhow, being the semi-obsessive compulsive type I'm in the process of correcting panel gaps for they aren't "perfect." So I bought one of these....

I would like to ask if there are any owners out there who would allow me to use their cars to factory body panel gap data?? I'd want to measure gaps between rear quarters and deck lid, front quarters and hood, fenders and doors. Ideally, cars being measured have not had any body work done and I'd like to take multiple samples. My intention is not only for my own use but also a possible post to the wiki section.

curious - this is a hand made car. is measuring other cars going to help? or is it better to just have someone work on it and use their eyeballs and take your direction.

I am not sure how exact you are going to get from car to car with a car like the NSX.

I know if you measured a few places on mine, you'd be quite off from other cars - a couple of panel gaps and the way the headlights are aligned/centered (or not centered - larger gap in the center than on the sides). when my tech did an inspection he pointed out some interesting things but shrugged and said, "well no two are the same" and he (I am not the first owner) thinks the evidence is clear that the car is currently as it was from the factory and has never been messed with.

After doing more research I'm learning that there are minor gap inconsistencies on the same car, one side to another. I suppose what I'll do is realign the front panels when I have the front bumper off next month. I'll Use pictures from Prime as approximation and use my gap measurement tool to at least get some consistency.
