Help Clutch Pedal feels loose

I guess with a high performance car like this things like this are bound to happen...but think of it this way once its fixed any misc. repairs it will probably be good for a long time to come...all apart of the ownership experience i guess...id love to be in any of you guys situation right now lol id love to have an nsx sit in my garage rather then not have one at all ....

I hear you!!!! I waited 16 years for my car, and I do love it!!! I had it out in the hot sunny night last night with the wife and I have it at work this morning... Life couldn't be better! Plus I do like working on it, and doing the repairs myself because I want to keep my car for a very long time so I want to know everything about it, in and out!!!

Hey I'm not gonna park it now...only if anything major comes up like say clutch...or motor related stuff. What really sucks is that I'll likely have to push back getting the exhaust (Pride V2) and getting my wheels powder coated (flat black/gun metal) until later...maybe late next season...according the wife it is the "responsible thing to do". After letting me sell my 350z and get the NSX and spend the kind of money I have up until now fixing it and doing the minor mods I totally agree with her...but it still sucks :(

The Code P0442 is Evaporative Control System - Small Leak detected. Not sure if this is the same code in result to overfilling the gas tank right to the top of the filler neck?

As for the Clutch Master, Slave, Hose. I just did all 3 and a set of SOS SS Brake lines I've had sitting for a few years. My car is a low mileage '00 had no external leaking either was holding the clutch and not engaging at times, almost started to think it was my actual clutch going bad but it wasn't slipping and no signs of slipping. Had the car over at Rob Magro's he thought it was a Master going bad turns out he was correct. :)

Took apart the original Master and you can see and feel the black grit from the rubber seals deterioration over the years. It seems to be rebuild able so now I have 2 old bad masters from my old '91 & '00 lol maybe I will rebuild them one day when we can't get parts anymore. I've always flushed Dot3 out every 2 years, I should have put Dot4 in there like I did in my old '91. Next time I flush the clutch and brake fluids I will switch to Dot4. Btw parts are way cheaper States side save a ton from there.

Butter, I guess its just an issue of luck. My experience has been the exact opposite of yours. In 12,000 miles of driving my /94 (which I bought 2 years ago with approx 19,000 miles on the clock) I have had nothing go wrong other than 1 spark plug that pooped out causing a low rev hesitation that was cured by installing new plugs. Oh, and the clock died but I replaced it with one from a fellow on Prime who sold it to me for $30 (dealer list here in the US = $400!!!). TB/WP job cost me $1,500 when I bought the car -- not excessive IMHO. Hopefully you'll will get past these "teething problems" and the car will prove to be trouble free going forward. As well (and just my 2 cents here and no disrespect to any of my fellow Primers who mod their cars), consider leaving the car stock -- few /02-05 model year cars in North America and again IMHO the value will be preserved by leaving it stock and its a pretty darn nice piece just the way it came from the factory. Think of the dough you will save by foregoing the mods!

Best,
Jeff

PS -- hope to meet up with you one of these days -- I'm the expat Torontonian living in suburban Detroit -- got together with Owen and Chris in early June but weather didn't cooperate for a good turnout.

We'll get together for sure! I have no doubt that the car will work out great...it's a Honda after all and most of the service I've done is "maintenance" related anyways. Just didn't plan for it this soon after purchasing it. Car drives beautifully now and the pedal is really smooth! I've only done minor mods so far...kept the original deck too. Only other planned mods are wheels and possibly an exhaust and again planning on keeping the original wheels and exhaust. That's it :). Not planning on doing anything else...especially since the wife and I are planning on children in the near future! I think she let me get the NSX as a way for me to deal with the eventual lack of social life I'm gonna have after having out first child...lol!

I love your write up Butter!!!
Mine was the opposite. I had the children first and now I got the car. The only down side I have two children and the car does not fit booster seats to well! But I still love it and I am glad I got it! and kids love it too!!!:biggrin:

I ain't putting my kids in the car...they'll puke in it, drool in it, crap while in it...I'll get a heart attack! No no...no kids in the NSX. NSX is a no kid zone in my house hold...heck it's a:

1. No dirty shoes, shirts, pants...no dirty anything zone.
2. No storing things near it in the garage that may fall on it.
3. One driver only ... ME..maybe my mechanic when he needs to work on it.
4. No leaning up against it...especially with jeans and no not even if Eva Mendez or Megan Fox's twins don't get that privilege even if they are naked!

Haven't come up with the rest yet but I'm sure there will be.

That is too funny!!!!

When my daughter was 4 I took her to Disney Land and she loved every ride she could get on... More the faster the more she loved the ride...

So what was the first words out of my little sunshine when she had her first ride in the NSX at 6.......... Is this how fast the car goes daddy!!!! then I hit the gas and a HUGE smile came from her face and she said ( Now that is more like it ) At that moment in life I didn't know to cry or laugh!

My 10 year boy plays about 14 hours a week sports....So what car does he ask for all the time the NSX.... then It depends if we take it or not.

The kids cant get enough of it and neither can I... Even just to go for a cruise!

So all I can say is good times!!!!! Enjoy every moment in life when you can, and at last I wish my dad had a car like this when I was there age!!!

Almost makes me want to reconsider my views after reading that...almost. I agree though, life is too short to not make use of the good times!
