headlite adjustment

You will need a long philips screw driver. Its preferable to do this at night with the light beams against a wall or on the road. There is a hole on the outside cover of each headlight. Stick in the screwdriver diagonaly and you should be able to turn a gear mechanism that will raise or lower the headlight beam. Be careful as you do not want to put too much pressure and pop the gear mechanism. Also, try to cover the shaft of the screwdriver so you don't accidently scratch your paint.

ACR is right, but let me add this. If you have not adjusted your light for quite some time you may find it easier to carefully remove the headlight covers and then adjust your lights. The gears that raise and lower your lights can be hard to find and the right Phillips screwdriver is needed to be sure not to strip the gear drives. With the covers removed you may want to spray penetrating oil into the gear drive prior to trying to adjust them. Removal of the covers is easy and when putting them back on just make sure you line the head of each screw back in the original location to ensure the gaps in the body panels all match.

Also adjust your lights on level ground and at night. A little turn on the adjuster can make a big change and you will probable turn them the wrong way by mistake first.

Good luck, you can download the actual instructions from the service manual.

Here's another hint that I found on my own car. According to the instructions in the service manual, you can remove the headlight covers by removing the covers and screws that hold them in. I found that by removing those screws, the covers could not be removed entirely; the covers could be lifted up and forward, but the lower front lip of the covers could not clear the housing unless you removed the screws to loosen the headlight housing units themselves. If you're just looking for access to the adjustment screws, then just plan on lifting the covers up and forward, and don't worry about removing them entirely.
