Header/manifold bolt information needed ASAP

Quick question - has the nuts used to connect headers/manifolds to the block changed since the NSX was released?

I removed my stock '92 manifolds to put on Comptech headers, and ordered new nuts from Eric at Niello - the old nuts look very specific, cut around the top, etc. The new nuts look like normal nuts I would have bought at Home Depot. Not at all similar.

Does anyone know if the bolts were changed, or did I receive the wrong bolts from Eric? I wanted to get this put together today, and would appreciate any info I can get (or someplace I could look).

Thanks!

I just bought these for my 92 for the same mod. The ones I received from my local stealer were the same as the ones I removed. They were the self locking nuts. You would at least need the self locking nuts since it's only torqued to 25 ft/lbs if I remember correctly. I would be patient and order another set...have Eric overnight them to you at their expense.

Thanks for the information, everyone. Actually, there were just 14 nuts placed into a baggie in the package that contained the O2 sensor, so I don't know what part number they were.

Since I got impatient =) and needed my car back, I went ahead and followed Comptech's directions and re-used the old nuts from the original manifolds, got it all back together, and everything seems fine.

I'm going to get in touch with Eric on Monday and try and ship these nuts back for a refund - I told him the location of the nuts I wanted, and he gave me the part #, for reference.

Thank you all very much!

How hard is it to install headers? I have the BBSC and am thinking of adding some. I know I have to re-route the cooler lines. Is there anything else I should know?

Not sure with the BBSC, but after doing this myself, I would be tempted to have a full-time mechanic do the job - it's not for the mechanically disadvantaged, and I had to recruit my 14 year old brother for some of the hard to reach places. All things told, around 12-14 hours from start to finish; I did CT headers and Taitec bypass pipes, I had already broken all the nuts from the cats back a few months ago when I installed a Tubi exhaust. But there was a lot of time spent with the old O2 sensors, and there were some holes in the instructions.

If you're going to do it yourself, the first thing I would recommend is to grab new O2 sensors - mine just woudn't come off. Other than that, it's just a lot of wrenching - you're going to need a 12mm deep dish socket to get the manifold nuts back on. Don't get me wrong, it's not impossible, but I have large hands and the area is tight.
