Hawaii NSX/s2000 cruise

The wheels look very nice, although quite different between the two pics, because of the angle the first pic was taken at -- the rims in the first pic look like they are much thicker. That's why I didn't recognize it at first. Sweet setup Chris!! SSR makes some nice rims (of course I'm a little partial) ;).

Regards.
Thanks for the compliment on the rims. I'll be sure to pass it along to the owner Rob :) I like SSR rims as well. I'm thinking about the SSR GT3, but I think I'll save for my dream HRE rims. My car is actually the stock looking White NSX.

Oops. Sorry for the confusion. :o Your white X sure looks nice too!!

Hey PHOEN$X, There are more black and red NSX's on Oahu than any other colors BY FAR. However, from checking out NSX's on Oahu for several years, I would say a majority of them are owned by people who are NOT enthusiasts. I used to be at Plueger Acura frequently, as I bought parts there all the time and had several friends who worked there. Almost every single NSX I saw there was in bad shape. It's like they didn't care about their cars or something. And ALOT of the NSX's I saw there were automatic. Also, a great deal of the red nsx's are owned by young kids under 21, and they mainly hang out with friends from their neighborhoods. And another thing, most people in Hawaii with NSX's do NOT modify their cars, expect for rims and MAYBE an exhaust. 80% of the NSX's are stock. My uncle owned Executive Auto Centre in Honolulu, and he went through alot of the NSX's on Oahu, and I saw most of them up close as I was there often. Most were a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10. Hawaii to me has the least amount of "hooked up" NSX's. I think I had the most heavily modified NSX on Oahu, and I don't even have FI. There is a FI NSX on Maui though, from what I heard....

BTW: If you want to sell your nice condition NSX's for ALOT more than what you can get for them on the mainland, ship them to Hawaii to sell them. It is DEFINITELY worth the $900.00 fee. AND there are people WAITING to find a nice condition NSX on Oahu.

Deuce: oh.... sweet photos... thanks, i enjoyed looking at these. I loved the S2000's too... such a cute little cousin to the NSX. :) I bet all the S2000 owners were spewing when the rain came down. lol.

hdsr5: that is a beautiful photo of your NSX there... i'm adding that to my collection!

I noticed that too. I know first hand of 4 automatic NSXs that I've seen in person. I believe there are more as well.

Ah, so your uncle was the owner of Executive. Does your family own either of the newer specialty dealerships that have opend up recently? I think it was Auto Source (?) is selling a black 91 rigtht now.

I would agree on getting an NSX from the mainland. The $920 I paid to ship my White NSX from San Francisco was well worth it. Local NSX's for the most part was out of the question for me. Someone has been trying to sell a low miles (1500 miles) 01 NSX, but he is asking around $76K. In Hawaii, the good ones are expenive and the moderate priced ones are not as good a shape is equal mainland examples for the most part.

I think the 6 NSXs that showed up on this drive were all worthy examples though:cool:

Hey gblue. Next time I'm visiting relatives in Maui I have to check your NSX out:D

Your Nephew must have had great fun driving the NSX down Haleakala. I can only imagine. We drove rental cars and other relative cars down there but never anything comparable to the NSX. I would just be afraid of going off the cliff:eek:

Ha, who knew! What an excuse for visiting Hawaii too, especially with an NSX for use -- now that would be a dream vacation! :)

NEO: No problem (Thanks to some of the s2K guys for taking some of the pics). I think all of them had their tops up until the rain stopped. Then it was top down action for some of them....(at that point I was wishing my car was a "T":( )

hdsr5: Shawn, Things are changing......;) Although, I had to go to Cal to pick up my car since I never saw a white one for sale here (white was the only choice for me), or even saw one on the road for that matter. Aside from that, since the cruise, we've had a few more NSX's coming out and I'm keeping a phone list so we will be doing more group gatherings. Maybe we'll be able to close the 3 to 1 gap between the NSX's and s2K's at the next meet :D .

gblue: That's awesome!!!! I always wanted to do that ride with my motorcycle. Maybe someday with my NSX :D . BTW, maybe you and a couple of NSX'ers from Maui can join us on our next big cruise (I don't know when it'll be yet). A lot of the Hot Rod guys do it every year. They'll have a designated island for a cruise, guys on the other islands will ship their cars to that island and they all have a big cruise/party. I'm sure there's a lot more detail to that, but I do know they get a discount for shipping a bunch of cars at once (I think cost is around $200 round trip).

ChrisK,

Are you the same ChrisK from the Legend Board,.... the same Chirs as the one who sold wheels to Mike C?

If so welcome! It is nice to see Legend folks over here.

Jeff

I'm looking at a yellow NSX and was previously on the A-l boards as well. The Legend got me stuck in Acura for life

Thanks for sharing the video. I think I'll join some of these cruises someday. I haven't been to one yet, and I can't wait to go back to Hawaii. BTW, I know the video dates back in 2003, but where there any 02'+ NSX owners in Hawaii at that time? I didn't see any.

Yeah, that was an old video. It might have been my first or second one I made. I wouldn't edit it that way again, it was a bit too long and probably a little boring if you weren't in it.

I don't think there were any newer cars around then. I think the newest one was the black '99 (which I happend to sell). One guy had just leased a Imola and I recall inviting him, but he as a "no show"

Good God that seemed like a long time ago:biggrin: I remember my car was stock and I only had it for a couple of months. That was my first official NSX cruise:tongue: Kingston's car is now Kevin's car and has been transformed again and again. Hard to tell but from those original NSX guys on that cruise it looks like only Rob, maybe Will, and me are the only guy's that still have our cars. The others seemed to have sold theirs I think.

Any NSX's on the Big Island? I'll be there next week.
