Has anyone here ever converted "back" to street?

I only ask b/c I'm having a serious dilemma with the nsx. I've been tracking it for about 7ish years now and while I am having a ton of fun, I'm starting to have some serious concerns regarding my personal safety (ie-rollbar/cage)...

I've started browsing around for full race cars but the only problems I have are:

1. If I retire the nsx from the track, I just don't know what I'd do with it. After learning to track it, the street just seems kinda "bland".

2. Speed... although it would be completely logical to go to a more "wall-worthy" vehicle, could I really have the same level of enjoyment at the track in a vehicle that could be potentially slower?

I'm just kinda curious on your thoughts/opinions regarding doing a move like this... I'm quite bent on what to do.

thanks for your input,
xavier

For me, I'd probably never drive a streetable NSX again (just plain boring). Thus, I'd end up selling it for something different (perhaps a newer car with better safety/crash testing records). There are a handful of fun cars that you can track, but are they just as fun? That's a personal decision...

Its all about budget when you have to ask these questions. If you enjoy the nsx experience but want to go full out on track and have a "safe" rollcage equiped car, then buy a used race car/ dedicated track car.Keep the nsx as a street car.If you need to sell the nsx to do the race car then the decision is made.

yeah... I've been thinking REAL hard about this... the reality of the situation is that with my current status, I cannot have both :frown:

although I think if i just get myself an isaac hnr it may satisfy my current quandaries about safety

Ever week or so I am thinking about this!

I would probably become a better driver if I had a dedicated track car. Then I would stop thinking about protecting my car so much. On the other hand, I don't particularly want a truck, trailer or more parking space.

Racing with less power would help in developing needed skills and also costs less. Driving with more power and less weight would be fun. All wheel drive would be fun but seems somewhat like cheating myself on skills develpment.

I would like to see a list of some of the good potentanl track cars. I know about the Miata, WRX, s2000 and the Lancer.

But it's all good,

yeah i tinker around looking at other cars and stuff every so often... what i'd really want is a k20civic... before i got into tracking the nsx, i was a civic hybrid (not electric) swap type of guy... had a H22civic (5th gen), did a B16EF, LS/Vtec EF, even an LS/Vtec turbo...

tons of fun potential with the power/weight ratio with those cars... My only problem is that I REALLY don't feel like building another one (tons and TONS of time)... yet i don't trust other people's workmanship when it comes to doing that level of detail on engine swaps....

basically, I'm stuck.. lol:tongue:

what's the saying: "$h+ or get off the pot?" lol
