Ha Ha Ha! Even the Ferrari guys are having problems with the Subaru STI

good one paul...i like this commment:rolleyes:

The STI is fast, fun and great bang for the buck. But the 355 is more valuable. Why. Because it is beautiful to look at. It is fast. It has one of the best sountracks of any road car every built, it has heritage, mystic, it is exotic and it feels like it and drives like it. And those are only the legitimate virtues. I've not even started in on the illicit ones!! (the lambos are even better at this!)

Or allanlamebos coment

Well you know, Ferrari arent all about going fast. I mean you could of told him all about Ferraris racing heritage. Im sure he wouldnt of felt as good for beating you after that!

Or, you can sell your car if you lose a race to a WRX

Now I know that a Porsche Boxster is not exactly a "cool car" by standards of this board, but I had a nice Black on Red, I was cruising the freeway with my brother and some ricer was taunting me in his blue WRX. I indulged him.

He destroyed me, much to my chagrin and my little brothers delight. I heard about it all night.

Boxster was in AutoTrader the following day.

It just doesn't feel right that a Subaru could/should beat a Ferrari/Porsche.

I just ignore everyone that wants to race - can't stand losing....and focus on the beauty and the mystique that is Ferrari.

That's too funny, and that is why I don't own a Ferrari, it's not that good of a car and more of a "Look at me" car. I like my ecnobox evo that can run a 12.2 and kills at the track :-) I am going to get something else to drive everyday though because this shitbox rattles a lot :D

I was sitting in one th other day and from a style and interior perspective it didn't move me. But I'm sure if I had been allowed to take it for a rip I would be talking a different story :p

well i just got back from driving an STi, an EVO, and a (slightly) modified STi... see, i plan on dropping $3x,xxx on my next car (which is why i'm here :)
i have to say, these cars are brilliant. the STi has GOBS of torque, and with just an exhaust and intake makes somewhere just over 300WHP...
it's a hell of a lot better built than the lancer, too... something you can just feel. neither have anything close to the build quality of a honda, obviously, but the STi just doesn't feel as "cheap". The Lancer EASILY won the "seat of the pants" test, though. the sharp steering makes it feel like more of an appendage. i'd call it the driver's car of the 2. it was an absolute BLAST to drive. felt like i was 16 again, giggling like a fool! less body roll and sharper turn - in, but the difference i'm trying to pinpoint can't be described by words... just felt "smaller". with the Sube i felt like i was heaving weight into the corners (ok not heaving, but coming out of the lancer it was heavier), and the Lancer seemed to just jump right in!
oh, and yes, the modded STi was a hell of a lot faster than the Lancer.

When I drove the EVO I thought it was OK, but it sure doesn't feel as fast as my NSX. I know from performance stats it is right there, but there is no comparison at all between driving the two cars.

I drove a WRX and was not impressed. I would like to check out the STi.

The key to these cars is getting the top end better. I have cams, exhaust, and computer about 2700$ and gained about 100 WHP so it's right at 340whp, peak power is right @ 7100 redline is 7500 stock. I can take out a z06 on the street as well as the 03 cobra's. It's a track rat, it has no class it just hauls ass. I plan on turning this into a full race car around the end of the year and it should be pretty quick. Check out Norris Designs in the UK they can get a 0-60 in 2.8, 0-100 in 6.0 and turn a 10.5 1/4 all on street tires. Or www.Vishnutuning.com in Ca, there stage 2 = 6500-7000 and puts down 550 whp and turned a 11.6 @ 124, stock motor only cams, turbo, injectors, exhaust, and turbo. I plan on building the motor, doing a Moton setup with full cage and about 9500 rpm with 600+ish whp, should cost about 10-15k :D
