GTOneUSA.com is up and running! With Ver 5.1 Exhausts - Stainless in Stock

Re: GT-One Exhaust system info update

GT-One Header
As soon as we changed the header to GT-One from Comptech, we noted a deeper and louder sound mainly due to the piping design and diameter. And YES it has more power than comptech header (I'll post the dyno number later this weekend).

5.1 Exhaust
...
It's kinda hard to put in on audio, unless it's an HD but we have professional recording on DVD coming up and I hope that helps.

Henry -

Any progress on either the dyno sheet or the sound clips?

i just received the ss exhaust and it was nice except that the tip was bent during shipping. Henry however was very quick in resolving the situation when he offered to pay for the repairs to the tip out of his pocket since fedex would take a really long time. The exhaust is on my car now and it is the best sounding exhaust i have ever heard. Everyone that has heard it is amazed by the deep sound it makes at 3-4k rpms and is overwhelmed by the sound it makes at 6-7k rpms. Thanks Henry for the exhaust and the great business ethics

are you running cats? or test pipes?

i have the oem cats on the car.

i had test pipe on my car, it sounds louder but in the good way.
you "had" test pipes, so you put the cats back on?

yea im running 2 silencers in my gt one exhausts, i really want to take them out, but it is way too loud

i never really drove around with it all out, i wonder if the cops will stop me if i took them out

Henry,
Do you have Gt-One carbon fiber side mirrors in stock? Plus, any pics of them?

What is the pricing on them and will you be doing any GB on them?

Thanks,
David

actually,i didn't put the stock cat back on, the reason why i said " HAD" 'cause my car was totaled last weekend.

Wow. Is it louder in person or does the vid do the volume justice? I can tell it even sounds better in person but even on the vid it sounds good.Loud but good.

have you already listened to the available clips? I have the whole thing, F1 header and 5.0 valve controlled exhaust which is slightly different sounding than the 5.1. In my clips I also have no cats.

I dont think the video does the sound justice. But that is just me.

When you first start accelerating from a stop, do you have a bit of a ricey type rasp noise? It only lasts for about a second, then once you get to like 2500 RPMs it goes away.

Just curious, because my v5.1 with the test pipes has a slight rasp when I first take off.

Thanks,
Nathan

I've heard Henry's setup and I noticed a bit of a rasp at low rpms.

Although I don't have a 5.1, my Gt-One Ti with test pipe has a rasp too.

Guys I have written on this before, this exhaust is a sort of jeckle and hyde... at certain RPM's, with the windows down or targa off at close proximity you hear what to me is an unpleasant "rattle" in there, a bit ricey sounding... I have actually had a couple of people comment "is something rattling?"... that rattle gives way to a pretty fantastic sound as the RPM's change or at WOT. I also don't really hear that rasping or rattling or whatever with the windows closed from inside the car. Nor can you really notice it from a distance.

I have learned how to drive this car for the best exhaust sound... if you lay off the throttle and cruise at higher RPM's, it really howls... I mean a howl like nothing else, people within a 1/4 of a mile turn to see what is coming. If you go full throttle, its also loud and sounds fantastic. If you get into that mid-throttle at lower RPMs you get that rattle fart can noise.

What it sounds like in the above clip is really what its like at WOT. But please don't forget my car is supercharged, it is with the GT-One header, the exhaust is the 5.0 not the 5.1 (no valve) and on that run I was running no cats. It is loud at WOT. At idle or on a highway cruise its quiet. Mainly because I would say 50% of that low end "drone" is taken out by the valve. I have really grown to like the valve control. Its subtle but now I don't want to be without it. The 5.1 has no valve.

Yes, GT-One exhaust system dyno is available, I'll make a new thread about that.

David, we're decided to discontinue the GT-One carbon side mirror, however the JGTC mirror is production, so get ready!

haha i must save my pennies for those

Man!
How much does that exhaust with the variable valve weigh! ?
It looks like its 35-40 lbs !!

I love the idea of a variable valve sound adjustment though..

I think it was either 24 or 26 pounds. Not bad at all really cosidering the valve and all the tubing. If you think its going to be loud with the valve open and quiet with it closed you will be dissapointed. What the valve does is get rid of this low level hum that is there at cruising speed that honestly really annoys me if I had to deal with it all the time. I don't mean to say that the V5.1 will drone, but with a header and no cats its going to have some resonance. The valve gets rid of maybe 75% of that drone. Of course its automatic so if I hammer the throttle, it just opens to 100%. I don't find my system to be excessively loud at all. Its only really loud at WOT.
