Hey folks, DJ here.
In regards to the torque dampener, I will check with Mr. Yamamoto on why that position was chosen. He puts things together and designs them with a purpose and I can only think there must have been a reason beyond my knowledge as to why he chose that particular position. I'll test my Japanese translation skills with this one!
There are some pics of Mr. Tamura on our
www.gt-rom.net site, the English side. Click on the Information link to the right...
And the cars are our two demos, Yellow is pretty much race tuned, but not bored out or anything, still 3.2, about 100kg lighter than the NSX-R and sticks your behind in the seats at any gear. The Red one is a street tuned version, less internal engine work and when customers ride they can feel the difference and see where money goes to make the difference.
And thanks for the compliments, we are very excited to have a branch, not a distributor, outside of Japan. Although we only had a couple days to meet in person, this has been in the works for a couple months now and I'm sure Henry and his family have a great understanding of the nature of tuning and enjoying the NSX GT-One style. Other places are quick to slap "distributor" badge on the company site but this is not the case here. Henry is a partner and a part of the GT-Rom family which gives him access to anything in Japan (anything sold that is...) Be it NSX related or not, if it is sold we can get it. Yes, that means Taitec, Route KS, Sorcery, HKS, Rays and the list goes on and on and on.
The NSX was designed to be a great
feeling car and our company along with other companies in Japan has tried and continues to try and expand upon that feeling with our products. Some companies focus on creating big displacement engines and boost applications but as the JGTC has shown, the NSX is not a straightline beast and even at such a high level of competition and engineering skill it is still not the "fastest and highest HP" car on the track. But when it hits the turns there is nothing faster or more precise on the road.
But with each market comes different needs and we definitely have seen the love of boost apps overseas and we are looking into developing something to suit those needs. Our only concern is the longevity and reliability of the engine after prolongued boost. Once we can feel more comfortable that the application will not be a maintenance nightmare then there should be no problem passing on some more JDM goodies that won't break the bank!
There are still a plethora of products that are not advertised in English but used in Japan and could help to benefit many owners. If there is anything you come across and wish to get please don't hesitate to send me a LINK and question about it. I will do my best to help Henry get it to you. Simply put, no one has this type of access with proper English support in Japan, we have vendors in our area asking if we can start promoting RX-7 and 8 parts! Not yet but if there are any Mazda owners out there give me a shout, I have a personal love for the rotary engine and most recently met the Fujita team and Odula is a close friend of Mr. Tamura (they gave me a trade in/auction qoute for my old FD). Kansai people, good folks.
Please excuse the long post but compared to my normal short takes this is a once in a million chance and I had to take it! Good luck Henry, I'll have my NSX-R in December and party in Houston for New Years!!
