The R34 GTR was made for 3/4 of the 600hp you state at 450hp...exactly actually.
This may also have been the case for the R32 and R33, but the R34 was intended for 450hp. I've heard several stories of 500+ on stock components and internals with decent reliability ( Supra as well). That iron block I6 sure is strong and well-balanced.
In my honest opinion, Nissan should be selling the RB series (as well as the SR) motors to privateer race groups. It might be heavy but it's race proven. Maybe even the N1 motors? :biggrin:
