Could they be covering any less of any one event? It is terrible. One second here, one second there.. then some stupid dumbass trying to drive go carts and rc cars. What a let down. Commericals every 5 minutes also.

once again the "tuner" moniker turns the coverage into a friggen cinematic rave

I was at JGTC Live, and I'm sorry to say the Speed Channel coverage didn't come close to representing how cool that event was.

I got tired of watching a commercial every 6 mins. And the show was edited by someone with ADD. :frown:

It must have been an 18 year old with ADD because I couldn't watch more than five minutes of the show. I guess that with all the "tuner" shows on every channel now, that Speed didn't want to risk losing the younger audience.

Did you hear Randy Grube's statement at the start on why he brought the JGTC to the US?

He was in Japan 3 years ago and heard the NSX NA 3 liter scream like an F355 and was blown away by the sound.

I thought that was very cool, worthy of a thread of its own.

I dislike but can tolerate the MTV-style editing. The constant music in the background is very frustrating. The people who make these shows don't have an appreciation of the intelligence of their audience.

I want to hear the NSX and company at full song without music, just like what inspired Randy Grube. They had enough sense to lead with his statement, but did not really hear what he said. The irony is staggering.

This sucked.
One hour. One friggin hour.

I got better coverage from the individuals here at prime who actually went.

So here's a big F-You to Fox for ruining another chance at decent coverage of a real motorsport.

I think trying to cramp 2 day events into a 1 hr show is almost impossible. They did a horrible job. So SAD

The show was pretty bad but at least it was better than nothing, I think. They jumped around too much. Fortunately, I don't watch realtime TV and just zipped past ALL the commercials.

I understand it's hard to cram 2 days into an hour. And I'm not a professional TV show producer, but I think I could have produced a much better show.

I would have devoted 5 minutes on the history of JGTC, its significance, why it's so awesome that they're here in the US for the very first time, so newbies can appreciate the event.

I would then spend another 5-10 min on the racing teams, the drivers, the cars, and explain briefly their tactics and strategies used to compete and win.

Then I would spend 10-15 minutes on the competition itself, showing the start, key moments, and the finish, from various races.

I would then spend 5-8 minutes on the attendees, find out what kind of fans attended, what they enjoyed most about the event, and highlight special moments such as the NSX lap/parade.

Finally, I would spend 5-6 minutes on misc stuff, the girls, the drifting, and anything else that was interesting.

I think this would have been a lot more interesting, and given the viewers a much better sense of being there, as well as appreciation for the event.

If someone would be willing to host it on their server, I'd be willing to upload it on my computer. Please PM me if you are willing to do this. Don't worry, no commercials

Without commericials, it should only take 20 minutes to watch

I too found it a little difficult to watch at times with all the cutting around and editing going on. To have Alain de Cadenait there and not even get to do a test lap with an on-board camera & commentary was a crying shame. Perhaps a mass mailing of disgruntled responses to Speed Channel might improve coverage for next year's event.

Thats a pity, sunday night there was an half hour special exclusively on the new 2005 nsx. GT-JGTC round up show. The first race is just north of me at aida circuit on the 26th of march. Profiled changes to the new nsx (body changes mainly), footage on the track etc. looked awesome, sounded awesome. :D

Yeah, I was fairly disappointed in the Speed coverage of the event. I was anticipating much more coverage of the race event and little or no time spent on R/C racing, car shows, or friggin' drifting. Hope they don't mess up Targa Newfoundland...

So this was on your local Japanese broadcast station? If it was recorded is there a way for someone to host?

Thats's correct. OHK i think. Every sunday they have have the gt show (Where i got the pictures from my "how to crash your nsx type-r japan style" thread from) Unfortunately i don't record it as i don't have a dvd-r to record tv!

I just hope they do a coverage similar to F1 or WRC, where u see a lot of action…..
oh and Speed pls cut down on commercial/ i'm paying extra on cable.
Why is there commercials anyway, it's a premium chanel, howcome HBO dont have any? what gives?
Speed should chg there add from racing 24hrs a day to "Racing 16hrs a day plus 8hrs commercials"
