Ground effects and alignments

Hey Everyone

I was visiting my dealership and another garage that does alignments and was noticing that when the pull the NSX up on the lift there is not much room. In fact my car already some what drags now getting up on the machine.

I am wondering how you guys when the ground effects get your cars on the machines. I want to put some ground effects on my car but this looks like this could be a problem. I was looking at getting a set of Vinny's MH effects but he said they are only 3 inches from the ground when they are on. The dealership said if I was to put them on they would not do my alignments any more.

So how do you guys do it?

Thanks
Jim

Heck, if the car is only three inches off the ground, even most hydraulic jacks won't be able to raise it, let alone a hydraulic lift!

2x12

My shop just block down 2x12's to clear the air dam. The other shop has a drive in alignment setup. NO drive up ramps

my old mechanic used to whack a jack underneath my crx and and lift it up then drag it forward slightly, i like my cars low ;)

Look for a shop that works on big trucks, they have machines that are even with the floor, like driving into the oil bays.

Not an uncommon problem... clearing the rack is sometimes an issue of lowered cars in general, and driving them on wood planks helps.

Another (more difficult) issue with SOME ground-effects packages is that the extended flared surfaces pose additional difficulties. In one case (dealer #1 - Acura dealer in IL), the fuller surfaces of the Wings West front nose made it difficult to clear the front stops on the equipment. With another dealer, the deeper airdam prevented them from shooting a contiguous light beam (laser?) to get/verify alignment. In both cases, it was ultimately doable -- I took them to a specialist who was able to align things OK.

I have just had the only 2 shops around that I trust tell me if I put a body kit on then they will not be able to get them on the rack. The Acura dealership just said forget it. They would not even do it. They said they already have to put the wood blocks down to get it on now. I have the zandari shocks and springs which only lowered it like less then 1/2 inch.

This has made me really re-think putting a body kit on. I really do want to put one on.
