Has anyone used an O2 sensor other than the factory one with the stock ECU?. Big price difference I notice. If so, can you share your experiences?

Hi Henry- How have you been?

I was actually thinking something more along the lines of this place: http://www.oxygensensors.com

For my '94, they cross-reference the "Universal" O2 Sensor to be spliced onto the old plug for $59.90, and the OEM style, complete with plug, for $74.99.

Compare this to the approx $175 or so it will cost you for the "factory" part from the dealer, even with club discounts.

I would not be surprised if the $74.99 sensor is the exact same one sold by the dealers. Take a look at the picture of it.

So, is there anyone out there who has used either a Bosch or a Walker O2 sensor???

FWIW, I decided on the "generic" Walker unit for $59. Same as the $74 one, but without the connector, so we had to solder on the old connector from the bad OEM sensor. Came with a cross-reference on what wires go where. Works Great!!

There are 4 wires alltogether. The two black ones are for the heater. Polarity is unimportant between the two black wires. The white wire is ground, and the green is the voltage signal to the ECU. Very easy hookup! The Walker sensor is otherwise visually identical to the original Honda / Acura factory sensor except for the markings. I really would not be one bit surprised if they were all made in the same factory!

Anyway, bottom line is that there is no need to pay the $175 - $200 for the factory sensor! Here are the cross-references I have come up with in my research:

O2 Sensors for NSX

Walker 250-24200 Universal 4-wire $59

Walker 250-2493 4-wire w/ connector $74

Bosch 13938, 15734

Acura 36531-P5G-003, 36532-P5G-003 $179

Honda 36531-P1H-E01, 36531-P28-A01, 36531-P28-A02
