Gas Tank Reserve

I understand that running the injectors dry is a death sentince so at some point the car (like most modern fuel injected cars) will shut itself down to protect the fuel system. Is this true?

I was wondering about this. I know it is not good for the injectors, but is it really instant death? I've had a few people I know who ran out of gas and simply filled up and was back on their way. Also, when you think about it, those NSX owners (And every other Honda/Acura owner for that matter) who had the main fuel injetor relay go bad are running the injectors dry as they continue to crank as well right?

Well instant death was an exageration - that was the wine talking! ;)

In any event - not a good idea for the fuel system or the engine to run the injectors dry.

It's not a good idea to run out of gas anyway. It's bound to involve some level of inconvenience, and possibly cost...

The concept of the fuel keeping the pump cool is logical. I have always run my tank almost completely empty, at least till the light comes on, before refueling. I have 103K on my Integra and the pump still seems to be working fine. Am I just getting better than average life expectancy from it?

Am I missing something? Didn't I see a reply about the A V Tax by AndyVecsey saying something about looking it up in the dictionary? Is that part of the thread gone now? Or am I mistaken?

There was a thread; however, the admin has done the right thing and deleted my inappropriate and uncalled for tone of that post. My bad.

Is the bottom of the fuel cell flat?

No, it has somewhat of a curved bottom.
