Hey guys i have a question ? ..i have 2003 with 1k miles on it and its already pissing me off........i cant open my gas cap and my trunk from inside the car...should i be worried?? the dealer told me to bring it in which i will but somany problems...already??

WB,

There is a small switch in the glove box on my 1991 to "enable" the trunk switch, since it is electric. In my car the gas door is mechanical, so it has a pull lever, yours may also be electric in the 2003 and will be enabled with the same switch.

I would review your owners manual to be sure. There have been a few people, including myself:), that in the beginning thought my trunk button was broken, only to be informed about the switch later.

yeah i didnt know about the switch and took it to the dealer and they called me and told me infact it was broken ...and they are fixing it ..and they also gave me a loner and beatiful dodge neon...:D

I also have a problem with my trunk release. I intend to have it fixed when I bring my car in for the first oil change. Perhaps this is a common problem.

Maybe there is another little problem 5 years later: If you can't open the gas tank cover although the glove box switch is okay then you may have trouble with the little cover spring which is too weak in the long term (or did they change it on newer models?)

I had that problem on two different models and solved it by replacing it by a stronger spring from a CRX tank cover (at least it should be a Honda spring;) )

It's not a spring; it's a metal tab. And if you're having trouble popping it, and they adjust it properly, it can last twelve years or longer without any further adjustment. Ask me how I know this. ;)

Sorry for the wrong word - I still have to learn a lot about technical terms in english...

Ken: I never had a Honda dealer that was able to adjust that metal tab so that it could work longer than 2 years.

Maybe it's also important to know how many times you open the tank cover in a given time period - in some years I drove up to 60.000 km and had to fill the tank nearly every day, no miracle with excessive speeds on german autobahn - can be more than 20 litres on 100 km. Nowadays as a track only car it's more than 30 litres.

I've never before heard of anyone needing to adjust it so frequently. In fact, this is seldom mentioned here on NSXprime, so I think this problem is not very common. Oh well...
