:) Hello NSX owners,I have rebuilt several sets of Gas spring lift struts for Trunks&engine covers&saving you hard earned $ a long the way as well.Interesting to note,on some of the struts that get sent to me have had the shafts damaged with being clamped to hold open(its mainly on the engine cover strut)Of course it should not be done in my book its buchery in the extreme, kills the seals in the strut&some owners have been puzzled as to how they get get damaged.Unfortunitly you are not around when the mechanic(i could say something else) is working on your car.Today i serviced a pair of Lexus sc400 saloon hood struts&guess what? They had shaft scratches as well,so its not only NSX owners who get it.I can machine out plier marks&offer our 100% WARRANTY& struts are marginly dearer than non damaged shafts to repair.Posting your struts is still the most direct way to get your struts to me,just write on the outside of the wrapper''struts for repair''&value $40&its quite legal&above board to do so.The trunk strut does not have &internal spring to assist in the initial lift of your trunk it is a strut that is just really there to hold your trunk up(i can make the strut stronger)ie if a aftermarket spoiler has been added, but you have to be carefull that to much strain is being appied to the mounting points ie,. top&bottom. So if you have any questions about your struts&even your office chair strut don't throw them away i do a host of different applications excluding suspension struts,i can help.Happy&safe Motoring.Frank Strutwise Technical Services.
