First of all, hi... im new to this neck of the woods....

Excited to be a first time NSX owner & cant wait to take the car out to the track once its finished. Some of you might be familiar with the car, it is the old FXMD silver mod-class time attack car.

It's a 1993 with 2002 conversion, volk wheels, Yokohama AD08's, built motor, gt35r, e85... etc.. etc...

Shortly the car will be shipped up to STMPO for a custom turbo kit & other goodies. As stuff gets done I will try post progress in this thread.

Coming from the AWD camp.... I think it will be fun driving a rwd mid engine car, really looking forward to a new challenge.

I think that was Ken's car, right? He just sold that one. Why are you sending to STMPO if it already has a turbo kit in it? Am I missing something? I thought that car was ready to go?

I guess I can clarify things if you don’t mind Nils... We have been working closely with FXMD and also CTD here in phoenix to design and test NSX turbo systems.

The new FXMD turbo set on the current unlimited FXMD NSX that was designed with AFI does well over 800 hp and has the aero as well as the unlimited class to do whatever they can to hold it to the ground

Nils NSX will compete in the Modified RTA and will use a similar but more horsepower appropriate set up for the class it's running.

STMPO and CTD's came together in conjunction with FXMD's testing and data research .. to design a truly track proven y-pipe layout. Our efforts together in redesigning and building different set-ups with characteristics from gt30r's to 35r's along with the v-band and divided housings. Here are some of the y-pipes we have made for the various open manifolds to the truly divided manifolds...

Our currently marketed schedule 40 STMPO AFI T-3 Y-pipe

y-pipe 1.jpg y-pipe 2.jpg y-pipe 3.jpg y-pipe 4.jpg

Our 2 1/4" set-up design tubular schedule 10 divided or undivided Y-pipe

P1010061.jpg P1010063.jpg P1010064.jpg P1010073.jpg

and the set-up Nils is getting.. Our final “high performance Design” Made with CTD Fabrication. A T-3 Flange twin scroll - truly divided manifold with dual gates. Built with 316 food grade stainless steel (polished on the inside)

The turbo will be a GT35r with a 1.06 divided hot side... a huge step up from the previous t-3 flange hot side by Garrett... now readily availible.

Were looking forward to it man...

Regards

absolutely gorgeous!.. super excited about the setup!

LOL...Yes, we swapped it over in December when we had the cars side by side at Mori's old shop.

I'll be at the new shop around the 15th or 16th of July to corner balance and align the my car with Fes on my way to the Castrol Top Car Challenge, maybe I'll see you then if you can stop by to say hello.

so ur the culprit!!

Ross,

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!! This is sick!
Just to make sure I am seeing things right, is this pipe polished on the inside, right?
Dude that is awesome. Usually you'll see this the outside for show ... however with it being polished on the inside, the air flow has to be really smooth with NO disturbance! I have not seen this before. Nice work!

Thanks Darrin.... I love your attitude man...

Just to update you guys.... turbo kit is in the works... yeay!

Pretty much the whole STMPO works will be installed & tested on the car... aluminum rear bumper reinforcement, chassis reinforcement etc....
as soon as parts get here I'll take pics etc. ... Ross, pls fill us in...

Along with that here are some loose specs on FXMD motor:
- Mid sleeves
- 93mm forged pistons (coated & wpc treated)
- Carillo rods
- wpc treated bearings
- billet oil pump
- & other super duper ish stuff....

Also putting on built heads for extra safety/reliability.

Basically the race testing & hard work by FXMD & STMPO is trickling down to my street car, to show what a properly set up street legal NSX can do at the track

So now im getting real pumped to test this thing out at my local track, which btw IMHO is the best track on the southern west coast! Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch...

FXMD has the motor thing down for sure... the WPC treated tranny is like an allstate insurance policy... your in good hands Nils...

The chassis and weight reduction equipment used for this street build is on the way... but not limited to

Aluminum Rear Bumper Beam

Having this car show up with Nils behind the wheel and the other monsters that have crushed records... I think FXMD might have a Time Attack Arsenal... The potencial for a full podeum is possible. The Eclipse will be something to see for sure as well...

Look up extrude hone, probably more common in race applications on cars.

Your correct about extrude and hone... and if we were to explain our product having an extrude and hone for an individual item for sale... it would increase the value of the product substaintialy... the cost to have that process done per part would be a ton.

long story short... were putting a product on the market with the quality of extruded and honed stainless without the price.

But thanks for the clarification... the material is so impressive.. were paying the price for it.

Got a nice big package via FedEx today from Ross at STMPO. The chassis for the NSX is going to be lighter & stiffer thx to Ross!! First & overall impression is great, careful packaging, speedy shipping & awsome communication from the guys at STMPO.

Craftsmanship, as you will see, is top notch. Quality of materials, fabrication & welds are fantastic!

some NSX porn.... mmmmmm.....

Big congrats Nils! You have some big shoes to fill:) I know you wont let us down! You are in great hands with Ross at STMPO, he did a great job with our TA car and I am sure your NSX will love the STMPO treatment as well.

im a size 9... but I could triple up my socks and fit a 10... is that big enough?

Ross.. send us pics of turbo system being fabbed up... give us some fabrication porn...

So a slight set back but the turbo kit should be done in 2 weeks & thats pretty much last piece of the puzzle :)

Lots of goodie pieces like cf wrapped water box & tial components are now going to be included...

Ill update when i can... Cant wait to install my incar video system & get u guys some footage :D

Here are some pictures of the motor build…. its so clean I would eat of it… actually no, wait, I dont want to dirty it up!

100_1496.JPG

Fresh out of the hot tank, the 3.2L nsx block ready to be assembled, if you look towards the cylinders you can see the darton Iron MID sleeves.

-

100_1500.JPG

OEM crank is in, yellow & pink bearings & main caps are on. 6 bolt caps, coming from 46g3.. these caps are impressive.

-

100_1501.JPG

Heads are on, notice how smooth the intakes look. 1mm over sized Inconel Valves. Ti retainers.

-

100_1507.JPG

Close up of the intake valve job… these suckers flow.

-

100_1506.JPG

OEM camshafts & cam gears installed. Look how clean that thing is!! looks brand new!

-

100_1508.JPG

And we are pretty much done, timing is correct, tension is perfect… next up is welding in the STMPO baffle for the oil pan & then custom making the exhaust… after that the car will be ready for dyno tuning.

Looking good Nils.

You bet...
Got to get out that way soon to finish some aero on the front nose of my car, will get in touch with you while I'm there...we'll grab a beer together...

I'm not familiar with this piece - where does it go and what improvement does it provide over OEM? It looks like a rear strut bar on the mounts but the rest of it..
