hey guys, quick question.

if i'm idling with the car in neutral, and the car rolls forward slowly,
i get a metallic clang/ping sound, not horribly loud, but like a chipmunk headbutted my exhaust  anyhow, i'm going to get my ball joint boot replaced this week so i'll have the guy take a look at it (i'd put the car up on jackstands and take a personal look but all i have are lame big U jackstands that wont do)

i noticed this more recently while i'm parking my car in the garage, and low speeds, i get this little clang/ping sound and noticed that with no throttle and the transmission not engaged i get it when the car is moving. i've never heard it under throttle except for when i'm moving really slow to park or what not. so it doesnt seem rpm/throttle related from what i can surmise, mainly from the car actually moving or turning at slow speed rates.

any ideas, i know the description could be better but just wondering if anyone had anything similiar. from the driver seat it seems as if its coming from the Right Rear wheel area and its intermittant but i might hear it once or twice in the span of 15 seconds while im parking in my garage

-thanks

May not be your case, but I had a friend who just bought JDMnxr's oarange widebody, and he heard a noise in the rear. He asked me to see if I could figure it out, I found it to ne a cracked rear rotor. As it would spin slowly, it made a pinging noise as it ran accross the pad.

thanks, i'll check that before i take it in

I have a similar sound in my 91 (RR noise), ended up being the intermediate shaft carrier bearing.
Did you get yours fixed yet? Curious as to what all labor and prices you got into.
