Front steering "knuckle"

Anybody have any recent experience with having the front steering "knuckle" replaced as a result of problems with tie rod wear? From searches, it sounds like you have to replace the whole knuckle. What is a typical cost in the US? In Canada, I'm being quoted $526 at the local Acura dealer.

Also, in my case at 140K miles, it's probably not unexpected. Since the other one is probably near end of life too, does it make sense from a labour perspective to do them both at the same time? I'm being quoted 3.8 hrs for one.

Forgot to include sample part number: 51210-SL0-010 (right)

So, I'm a little perplexed by the lack of response ... and then I figured that maybe it's because most people are much less than 100K miles (I'm currently at 141K) and probably have never needed to replace a tie-rod end/knuckle. Am I right or have I committed some kind of posting faux-pas that's unworthy of a response?

Maybe some of the NSX mechanics can chime in. I think this is just in the wrong forum. Also, a more descriptive title usually helps.

I haven't had issues with my knuckles, even though my car has 120k miles on it. However, I do have some issues with my manual steering rack having some "play" in it.

Ideally, the car's suspension should always be balanced - so it warrants looking at the other side when doing this fix. I would get a second opinion on the fix just to be sure. I'm also not sure you'll be saving lots of labor by combining them. If only one is broken and the other is fine, you might be able to get away with fixing one side.

Good luck.

There is no labor saving to do one or both, both would be twice the price:). As far as them wearing out, it is either the bushing in the knuckle for the tie rod end, or the knuckle itself is worn and the tie rod end bushing is loose in the knuckle. If it is the bushing, you may be able to buy a used knuckle(hopefully damaged in some other way);), and swap the bushing out of it and save quite a bit of money.

As far as lack of response, this is the first time I saw this thread, and I personally think it is in the correct forum:).
