Im still waiting on the transmission, or it'd be in the car by now. I'll likely start a build thread when the time comes, but for now, check in at our Facebook page, as it's easiest for me to update everyone.
You will have to have a bell housing made to connect the NSX engine and the Porsche transmission. There already exists one for the LSX series engine since it is rather popular in kit car/tube frame car builds.
There is no real reason this cannot be done. It is just someone will have to have the know-how and resources to tackle the job. With the engine mounted longitudinally, weigh distrubution will be shifted more towards the rear (due to the transmission location) and you could really work wonders with the rear suspension geometry with custom A-Arms, rockers, push rods and horizontally opposed shocks and sway bars. Your exhaust manifolds could be truely equal length with a crossover from the 2 banks, or you could have plenty of room for a twin-turbo setup. You could tackle the same thing on the front of the car too, but when you get into that level of complexity, you are boarding on what member LS7NSX is doing with his complete NSX tube frame rebuild.
If I had the time and money to take on such a project and could work on it full-time, I would without hesitation, but alas, such things do not work out like that in life.
