You know, the one that has NSX engraved on it. When I got the car from the previous owner, he didn't give me that key so I figured it was lost. Well, today I was taking apart the console to fix the shift boot for my new knob and low and behold, it's the NSX key hidden below! One of the previous owners must have dropped it through the e-brake hole. Man do I feel lucky today!

I love the old key! My Z had one too, and it just feels better starting the car with a good looking key.

Congratulations on your discovery Mr. Clark!

Is there a way to order the original key through Acura and have it cut.

Anyone know the part #

Thanks

I commend any owner of an NSX who sells the car and gives the new owner ALL the parts and manuals. I'm not sure I could part with all the keys.

I agree. When I bought mine from my friend he gave me everyting. I even got the so called "Titanium" or whatever it is key. Another neat key I got was one he had made in Japan. It is a wallet size thin ket that you can keep in your wallet and use if you accidently lock your keys in the car.

I have owned my NSX for nearly six years and have never used it. It's been polished to a golden finish resting in a Honda drinking glass in my NSX shrine.

I would rather find it hidden in my car, like ak. Maybe it's somewhere in the cushions of my seats.

question: if i have the orginal engraved NSX key, if I wanted to buy a brand new nsx key, could I just copy it from my orginal nsx key?

ah; guess u can't just "buy" that key.

do they still make the keys like this for '01 / '02 or later models?

They still make them for early model nsxs. I got one for valintines day but have to yet to find someone to cut it and promise it will work. I think I am going to take it to a locksmith. I also polished my key with mothers metal polish and looks 10xs better

I know the good feeling you get when you find it!!

Makes you wonder about the competence of the original owners though!

Yes.

It's in the FAQ, cleverly hidden in the section called "Part Numbers".

Sorry, not on your year NSX, unless you disable the immobilizer.

Yup. A solid metal key will not work on any '97 or later NSX because it won't have the immobilizer chip inside it.

C note? you mean do? why C scale not G or B flat?

C note. Common slang for a hundred dollar bill. Also called a Franklin, after Ben whose portrait appears on the face. "C" derived from the Latin "centum", meaning hundred.

I have one of those. I bought it at my neighborhood locksmith here in the good ol' U. S. of A.

is it even possible to buy the original key? if so, i'd be interested in one just as a general purpose keyring.

Sure. Just give the part number (from the FAQ) to the parts folks at your friendly neighborhood dealer. I hear they're very good at that.

Uh can't, but you can.

No - I assume because there is no easy way of manufacturing a solid metal key with the immobilizer chip inside.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this, but I think the best way to get a "Titanium" key cut is to have an Acura dealer do it. I ordered one from Oakland (CA) Acura a few months ago. When the blank came in, they cut it using just my VIN without having to copy an existing key, and it works perfect.

I have heard that it is slightly more accurate to cut the key using an original key (preferably one that has not seen much use) than using the code (which the dealer can obtain using the VIN) but either way should work.

When I "sold" my car to the insurance company, I kept the key and took the billet plates as souveniers of the ride. I still have the key on my dresser where I see it most every morning.

Sickness? Yes.
