There is another thread about Ford GT that really makes me to own one, however I have never been a fan of Ford GT.

I want to know how many people would favor Ford GT vs. Murci Lambo and why?

Reliability, dependability , depreciation..... ect.

Ford GT, Lambos change body style every two years, and blow up too easy in my opinion, my wifes cousin has 2 Ferrari 458s and he swears by them and drives the shit out of his every chance he gets....just hope it doesnt blow up too....

If you have that sort of $$$ at your disposal, head out to a dealership and spend some butt time in each vehicle and make the call. I haven't ever had my a$$ in that location, but I have a funny feeling that those two vehicles will give a very different experience once you turn the key.

Whichever car you do choose though, I think you will end up winning. Happy trails!

They are but they still ain't a NSX.

Personally I'd take the GT, much prettier and probably less headache.
When i mention that i often hear the comment if you have enough money the reliability won't bother, which is off course completely incorrect.
If you have constant bugs and issues it's aggravating.

I put over 11,000 miles on my GT in a little over 2 years, and like the NSX, it was just tires and oil. I have many friends with Lambos and F-cars, and they can't make the same claim. Yes, I could buy almost any car for the money I'm spending to get GT #2, but it's the GT that does it for me, and the reliability/dependability just "seal the deal". Like the NSX, the GT is an icon, a keeper. There will always be the "next newest Lambo or Ferrarri". 24 years of the NSX, and the "new one" won't really be anything like the old one, other than "name". Different strokes for different folks, but it really is amazing how many NSX/GT owners there are out there.

You could almost buy a Ford GT in cash for what the Murcielago is going to depreciate in 5 years.
Depreciation is largely dependent on how well a car can handle higher miles and in how well a car stays interesting/cool/relivant.
Looking at autotrader, it looks like a Murcielago drops around $100,000 in value over 5 years, regardless of whether it's driven or not.
The Ford GT, like the NSX, goes up in value.

.

Not being able to afford either, from a dreamers aspect its still a tough call. At the end of the day, I would go with a pewter Murci.... the Ford GT is an awesome looking car and sure, it will go up in value but really, who buys a car for the investment potential? Few. Even if our NSX's weren't slowly creeping up in value, doesn't mean I would think any less of them. So the depreciation angle is a weak one to play, IMHO.

Besides, people who could legitimately waffle back and forth on which one they might buy next week are most likely NOT worried about depreciation.

If I had the mint to go out there and start buying cars from my Fav-5, The Murci would be purchased before the GT, but, the GT is not more than a car slot or two behind.

The cost difference depreciation or not is a significant one.

Murci > GT > ? > ? > ? > Gallardo

Drive the Lambo and watch the depreciation go up quickly, now add the cost of maintenance. Drive the GT, watch the price go up, and just change tires and oil. You can dream, but when faced with reality, spend your money on what pushes your buttons. I could give a rat's ass what anybody else thinks about a car I drive/own. I don't buy them to impress anyone, I buy them because it's what I want, and I can afford it. If I was looking to impress people, I guess I wouldn't have an Acura and a Ford, would I.

Easy there tiger, "impressing others" was certainly NOT was I was trying to imply. My only point was:
Given deep pockets, deep enough to where I would have a 10,000 square foot marble floor w/columns vehicle bay, one wall covered in art, one wall covered in glass, the Murci would be my personal choice over the GT, but not by a long shot. You wrapped it up when you wrote "spend your money on what pushes your buttons". (although I always say 'whatever pops your clutch :) ') That's all I was really trying to convey.

And because of that, given my above scenario, the cost of maintenance and depreciation would not be a factor and it would come down to whichever popped my clutch the most. And for me, its the Murci. Sorry to offend.

ps. I agree, the FordGT is iconic, whereas few Lambo's ever will be, none in the past 20 years. We all buy (or dream to buy) vehicles for different reasons.

Care to expand on this? The Lamborghini Murciélago went from 2001-2010 (9 years) and the Gallardo has been in production since 2003 (10 years)..

During that same time period, Ferrari, on the other hand has seen 360, 430 and 458..

the last car show I was at had a GT and a murci roadster about 50 ft apart...it was like disney by the lambo...a line formed to take pictures with it..the GT had a much less rawkus group mostly the older guys admiring it.The most interresting was the original 959 that got very little attention, blending in with the other porsches.

We saw a silver 959 at a car show in Ft Lauderdale last summer. My wife and kids couldnt understand why I was staring at it instead of the other vehicles there, which included a small but impressive line up. I tried to explain to them the rarity and significance of it, but they were just like "oh yeah..okay, anyway, I like this GT2 Porsche better..."
